Did Shimano ever make Campy-compatible hubs?
Just wondering.
I have a set of wheels, discontinued in 1999, but the mfg site says the rear hub is compatible with Shimano 6400. I'd really like to move it to Campy, but have no need to spend the money on a Wheels Mfg cassette, or even an Ambrosio.

Negative. The shimano hub design will not accommodate the deeper splines.
there was the brief 7800 deep spline shimano hub (almost a campy copy) but I don't recall a campy spline version and it wouldn't fit that hub anyway, completely different design.
as an interesting note, I think campy had shimano 11 wheels to market before shimano. They also offer a conversion for existing (and old) wheels. Shimano does not.

Figured as much. I'm dealing with the 7800 issue as well, sold a bike that had the 2mm deep splines and a matching cassette. Buyer said it wobbled, so instead of looking for a spacer, he swapped in his own wheelset, sold the cassette, and now wants to trade the wheels back, sans cassette. I probably (did find) dropped the spacer, but do not feel like casting about for a new cassette.....bummer.

Picked up the "7800" wheels today back from the buyer, probably 500g lighter than the ones I gave him, will find a 2mm deep cassette, no biggie. I may even have one, but I haven't done any Shimano 10-sp work lately, apart from cehowardGS's Klein. Can hardly remember what's in my cassette box.
Picked up an American Classic conversion cassette, to run 10-sp Campy on Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10 freehubs. Solves that problem. Looks like a set of Rev X will be useful running Campy, after all, if I so choose. I really thought I'd be able to swap in a Campy-compatible freehub from my Xaero Lites, but no deal, totally different freehub. Ugh, this modern stuff.
The day still had a bonus. A guy gave me an NOS Shimano 1056 front hub laced to an NOS Matrix Aurora rim. I had no idea what I'd do with it, then was rummaging around my old wheel stash, found a Shimano 1056 rear hub laced to a Matrix Aurora rim. Boom, a match. I measured the carrier, afraid it would be 7-sp, but nope, it's 8/9/10. Something still looked odd, so I measured the width, and it's a 126mm wheel with an 8/9/10 freehub. Seems like a good way to update an older frame, say, an Ironman?.....
