Hehehe. Says "eTap AXS" everywhere in the specs...and the pictured bike is clearly a Shimano equipped bike

That's pretty common on the mockup bikes when they do the color silhouettes like that. All the big brands do that, it's just placeholder graphics.

Oh, a black carbon gravel bike or a black carbon gravel bike with a couple of red marks.

Way to go bold.**

The sand colored 105 model is a little better, but yeah, still a bit uninspired. Looks like it's trying to be the Diverge.

That is one ugly frame for a gravel bike. Looks like a generic road bike.

Saw it before the pics disappeared, I think it looks good. I like the dropped seatstay look.

Agree with the black tho, I'm tired of it, they need to give us good colors (of course, we have the choice in what to buy, which is why my bikes are royal blue and metallic orange, but more choices would be nice). Yes, they're gonna get dirty and scratched, but they should still have some personality when you clean them up! lol

I like the dropped seat stays too. I don't mind the black so much. It's safe, at least, which is why I was happy ending up buying the 105 model. At least it won't feel out of date as fast, I figured! But yeah, I agree, especially with a new fancy carbon version a few more options would be more interesting.

Dang, missed the photos. Riding Gravel said it was going to have details on the 2020 Gravel lineup this week, so that jives with the Thursday announcement mentioned above.

I like a black bike, so that is fine with me. It would be nice if they had a few choices, though.

I'm doubting it since they like to do layups with huge bottom brackets in carbon. But that would be cool.

They look pretty cool. I can't wait to find out more about that suspension system.

Some blue options in there for you too. One is super dark blue, and one is super light blue (or bluish grey?). And I like their new logo branding.

I think the Ultegra RX2 in Agave might have my name on it, though I'll want to hear more about the "kingpin" gimmick.

I also notice that the new 2020 aluminum Topstones are already available for sale online, including a Tiagra version.

Yep, the Agave would be my choice too.

Huh, less tire clearance than the aluminum model, or at least less official clearance. Interesting!

Says “up to 700x40c”, for those who don’t want to dig for it. Also 650b compatible, officially.

Hmmm. Looks fun to me!

It's interesting to me that brands like, Trek, Giant, Cannondale and Specialized are not going the way of OPEN and making a quiver killer bike. Something that fits many different tire and wheel setups and marketing it as a do it all bike. But maybe thats it. They want you to buy multiple bikes?

I'm still baffled at how Giant or any other brand does not market their cross bikes this way.

I gotta think the big difference is that Open is not in the road bike specific market, while the other major brands you mentioned are. Why would they market one bike in their many lineups as a quiver killer? That would be suicide for them.

You don't think the Trek Checkpoint, Giant Revolt, Cannondale Topstone, or Specialized Diverge are effective as "quiver killers"?

I do know of several people using Checkpoints and Revolts as road bikes. I could see some roadies turned off by the squishier Specialized future shock (Roubaix is stiffer), but the Topstone is based on the geometry of the Synapse endurance road bike.

I am with you in wanting to see road bikes with wider tire clearance. It is very limiting to only be able to clear 32c tires.
