I've been hankering for a new set of disc wheels for my gravel/cross bike. I made my old wheels about 9 years ago with XT hubs and DA28 rims, and they have been fine, but they are pretty heavy and there is a bump in the front wheel that I'm having trouble tuning out. And I just want some new wheels.

I was looking for something Clyde friendly (I'm currently 235), 6-bolt preferred, 20+mm interior rim width and around 1500 grams. And under $500. Unicorn?

So after a decent amount of research, I settled on the Alexrims Boondocks 3. They checked most of the boxes except weight, but still came in around 1700 grams. I can live with that. Problem is, I couldn't find them anywhere in the US.
Finally found them at MEC in Canada, and with the exchange rate they wound up being $282 including shipping and the $5 membership fee (which is the third time I've paid this "lifetime" fee). Ordered on 3/6, got them today (3/14).

I only have one 20 mile ride on them, so I won't go for a full review, but here are the highlights:

1800 grams with QR skewers.
6 bolt, not centerlock.
Deep aero rim - 30 mm (no braking surface, disc only).
Comes set up for QR and has three different thru-hub axles.
24 spokes per wheel.
21 mm internal width (looks good with 28 Rubinos)
Tubeless ready-ish, needs tape if running tubeless (I'm running them with tubes, but the bead snaps in pretty loudly when airing them up).
Freehub is loud as hell, so no coasting ninja moves

Initial ride with 700x40 gravel tires, they felt great and are lighter than my old wheels with road tires. I'll update after I get some more miles on them.

I've got about 100 miles on these now, and I have to say that for sub $300 alloy disc wheels, they are great. I'm taking them on some gravel this evening.
