TR: Color Sunday in Colorado and 110 miles

That's the day that the fall colors in Colorado are said to be at their height. I spent the day on my bike to soak it in.

I cycled from Mesa up Grand Mesa. This took me past Powderhorn ski area and its predecessor Mesa ski area. Then from the top I descended to Cedar Edge, Delta and then battled a furious headwind to Palisades and then back to Mesa.

This is a neat ride because it covers varied topography ...The start begins in a sandstonefrom the top of Grand Mesa's 10,200' elevation I could see the mountains of the San Juans and the Elks in the background of fall foliage. After descending, you encounter vinyards and orchards, then desert for 30 miles and back up again to vinyards and orchards.

Aww, I am so homesick for my tiny town of Cedaredge right now. Fall is my favorite season for the western slope. Here are my pics from Color Sunday on the Grand Mesa a few years ago.

Fall in Cedaredge is also great because of the apple harvest.

Here is my boyfriend using all his senses to take in Color Sunday.

Cedaredge really caught my eye. I couldn't stop looking at all the houses and soaking in the small town atmosphere. You're a lucky girl to have had that experience in your life ...IMO.

Thanks Snowy. It was a great ride except for the 20 -30 mph headwind from Delta to GJ. It really threw the timing off ...by about 2 hours.

Yeah, I have grown very attached to life in the Colorado Rockies. There are less people, less angst, more love, clean air and wonderful views. It all adds up to a vibe that is so addicting and so healthy.
