^^ that bike doesn't look like it has an unusually long wheelbase - but then when you look at the wildly long chain you realize how big it really must be.
nice bike.

I will have to take some better pics... that is... if the sun ever comes back.
The bike is actually pretty clean (for a change).
The ice bike needed drop bars... and with that it also needed new brakes but I just had some LX Cantis kicking around.
Now I can stretch out a little when i am racing through the snow and ice.

We usually don't have snow for consecutive days, so haven't ever had a "winter bike"
I had to go to Fred Meyers and get some 1/2" machine screws this year, however. I just went with 48 of 'em in the front tire only.
Snow plastered to my seattube, and all other front-facing bike bits. I hate riding with toeclips in the snow, so they gotta go.
My black ninja riding gear ain't so ninja in the snow...

Just got back from a ride to the bank. It was roughly 13 miles round trip. It's snowing a crapload now, but I had plenty of snow to work through. The funnest (slowest) part of the trip was taking a shortcut back through a big suburb. None of the snow through there was plowed, just packed down from cars and SUVs. Near the end of my ride, some pickup truck with a plow honked at me before passing me. As they passed some dude in the passenger seat yelled some form of gibberish that I couldn't understand. I decided I didn't care, but it was amusing.
Didn't take any pics of my actual route. The pics are at a park staircase that leads up to my apartment.
Sorry for the quality. Pics were taken with a camera phone.

GARY FISHER "UTOPIA" IN WINTER. Yes, that is a radio attached to my bike. I like to listen to music on my commute.
Outfitted with a DIY Porteur rack. With a pair of Viewpoint Flare 5 LED Headlights and a Romisen RC-N3 CREE Q5 LED in the middle, which really lights up the road. Mounted on a Softride Headstem with Syntace Aerobars. And in these conditions, I ride on Nokian Gazza Extreme 294's.

the winter beater. i give it less love than it gives me. it just keeps on truckin. it's been out side in my non insulated garage with no door for weeks at sub zero temps and isnt showing the distress i thought it would.
its a simple single speed conversion. amazing how the least expensive bikes seem to get the most miles put on them

thanks. the sticker really pissed some people off at work. the employee lot is full of pickup trucks and i rode that bike every day when gas was inching its way to 5 bucks a gallon last summer.
most of them don't get it though.... "wait, that bike costs a penny?" my American brethren don't know when they are the butt of a joke.
and i think i see a radio antenna by the water bottle
