Something for the Brits (OT)

(I figure if Trombone Al can submit a video, this is fair game.)
My older son works for the British Consulate-General in NYC in Press, Political & Public Affairs. His boss, Consul General Danny Lopez, asked my son to create a Holiday video featuring British Businesses in NYC. My son directed, filmed, and edited the video.

Two British celebrities appear in the video and my son has a cameo, as well. (He is the guy in the puffy black coat serenading the woman on the balcony @3:03.) One will appreciate this more if they've seen the movie "Love Actually." I am quite proud of him.

Very nice, Miss K', please tell your son that his video is really nice. I enjoyed it and now I can say I "Know" someone at the NY, NY, British Consulate's office. Ain't I important.

I think to his generation technology is second nature. His dad has been in IT for 30 years, so my son was just about born with a mouse in his hand.
What is your video titled, Denver? I'd like to see it!

Many thanks for passing that on, Miss K.

Good to see a Scottish slant in there too. Didn't realise that Jim Dale was still on the planet - he was famous when I was a lad! Seems that he's been a NYC resident since 1980 according to Wikipedia, which is why he's slipped off my radar over here.

It is not really "My video" but a collaboration. The organization, NOEWAIT, is a national organization I started, but, given current national funding, it went nowhere, even after 3 years of tremendous efforts, a presentation to congress and the president, etc.

Another British reference: An ode to British blues-rocker Robert Palmer's famous "Addicted to Love" video. Its near the start, a few scenes where the singer has three girls behind him with 'deadpan' facial expressions that are (badly) playing instruments. Overall, very cool!

Been looking for the British celebs and I reckon I must get out more.

Well done to your son and he is doing things on the computer that I never could have done. But when I was in IT we were working with 286 processors and Video did not exist.

Denver, it is heartbreaking that the funding is not there for such an important cause.

Your welcome! Jim Dale is currently quite popular in New York. My son told me he is soon to star in a one man show soon. He also said he is a really nice guy.

Skidder,
That same scene is featured in the movie Love Actually with Bill Nighy as the singer. So the scene in the video is a send-up of a send-up!

Thanks, Stap. Jim Dale starred in the "Carry On" movies. Are you too young to remember those? The skater that made the fancy moves was John Kerr, British National Figure Skating Champion 2004-2010.

Thanks to you all for the kind words. My son told me today that the video was very well received by the Head Office in Britain and has made him the current Office Hero at work.

Didn't recognise Jim Dale as he has aged a bit since he was in the UK and Skating was never my "Thing" so didn't recognise the celebs.

Doesn't detract from the video though.

That was several years back. Due to the financial setting and a lack of my ability to actually bring together the parties in need as a force, it is dormant. Over 12,000 folks signed the petition, over 1,000 individual stories of terrible conditions were submitted (of which the most significant 100 were formally presented to congress and the President - POTUS), BUT of all those folks only 200 actually joined our listserv and of those about 40 were active. In the meantime the financial world in the US of A collapsed, and all mainline (and I was NOT mainline) efforts were devoted to preserving current services.
