Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Try to be optimistic. Think of how many members it doesn't have.

I am just so, so disappointed. And upset. Just upset, and disappointed, is what I am. Oh, and outraged.

Some joined just to voice opinions against it. Not sure how many.

Kinda old news... it ain't right, but shutting down the group isn't going to change any of their opinions.

yea, it wasn't too bad. Thank god for brakes. This driver pulled in front of me and stopped without checking his mirror and I ran my front wheel into his rear bumper. Ended up on his trunk. Not so bad, my wrist hurts a little.
Was gonna revive the MS Paint ur Mishaps thread but too busy today

good to see we're all still here in one piece.

Oh and thanks for that MS Paint thread reference. Was bored at work and decided to put together my little contribution to it.

haha hate group? criminal?

sharing the road goes both ways, i've seen plenty of jackass cyclists that piss me off when i'm cycling. If i was driving i'd be doubly pissed off because I could hurt them and nobody wants to deal with the garbage after an accident. If you're running stop signs and traffic lights and don't use a light at night you have no right to wave the share the road banner. I do, it's not that hard, but i still see plenty of people that just say **** the rules

I wouldn't go hate thing, but some road warrior type riders do strange traffic behaviors scaring the crap out of everyone (including fellow cyclists too).

Once I saw a rider who went left at a cross-section and immediately turned around back into the street he was on. I think he was trying to bypass the red light on that cross-section. He has done this entirely ignoring the incoming traffic at the cross-section. He rode off looking "cool"(???).

Today, I saw another rider who "crossed into" a large street at a T-cross-section. This guy wanted to turn left, but he didn't do that. Rather he couldn't because he was riding against the traffic on the right-lane (in-coming traffic. In Japan, people drive on the left lane.). He would have smacked into cars turning left (from the large street). So he went through those left-turning cars and suddenly turn left. A car turning left (into the large street) has to slam brake because the rider came right into car's path. The rider went off looking "cool"(???).

I think these things happen daily. I would think it is entirely understandable to see people abhor cyclists.

P.S. This is probably strictly local to my area, but I sometimes see ladies riding with one kid in front and one kid in the back. (Plus calling some fool on their cells, sometimes.) I hate those ladies.

There's also the "Help Remove this Hate Group Against Cyclists" facebook page. Though they say they want the group removed, I really don't know how that's possible. I think they are just trying to win in numbers.

But like bbattle says, the original hate group seems to be taken over by cyclists..
