I had a bad road rage incident [video]

This video is not my incident, but my incident was very similar. The difference is that I stretched my arm, not my leg, and I didn't have a camera.

In my case, the guy tried to punch me in the face, but I blocked the punch. I managed to remain calmed and at some point he just backed away and left. I didn't write down his plate number.

I don't know what I would have done differently, stretching my arm was a reflex to push me away from the car that was about to hit me. He got really mad that I clipped his mirror with my watch.

He should have stopped as soon as it was apparent the driver was going to cut him off. It looked to me like he just kept going.

Maybe, but I'm not sure he had enough time. It becomes apparent that the driver might invade the bike late at 0:12, and the kick takes place right before 0:14. That is less than 2 seconds to react.

No criticism intended, by the way. I probably wouldn't have gotten his plate .... even if I had a pen and paper handy.

Glad things went bad and got better for you, instead of doing that common Bad>>>Worse progression.

I thought folks in Canada were kinder and gentler. Kidding aside, road rage is quite scary and I think the cyclist was extremely calm considering the demeanor of the driver.

If I looked like he guy in the Ottawa video I'd be pissed at just being alive too .

I know this because I do and I am.

The van driver in the video was out of his mind, but I couldn't help noticing: 1. the van passed him a full lane over, 2, when the van slowed down and was crowding over the line it was obvious where he was going, and 3, there was plenty of time to slow down and plenty of room to move right. Or just gone ahead like he did and ignored it. The biker could have avoided it all easily, and had no reason to kick the guy's van.

So in a way the cyclist provoked it and got what he was asking for, basically a shouting match. Kicked the guy's van, he kicked the bike, kind of symmetrical if you ask me.

That incident on camera is just ODD.

The van appears to be making a diagonal from the left most lane towards the driveway on the right, all in relatively slow motion.

However, when the driver hops back in the van, he proceeds straight down the main road and doesn't make the turn.

The driver doesn't look sleepy, but it really looks like drowsy driving or perhaps distracted driving.

I am very much against violence in any form, but in this case, the driver probably needs to just be woken up. Hopefully the police responded and gave him a citation for at least dangerous driving.

Go to YouTube, one comment say the same guy flips him off when they cross paths. Looked like the guy was trying to run the cyclist off the road and he got a little pay back.
https://www.tmtmechanical.com/

PS - it has been reported that the road rager is the owner of TMT mechanical.

Appears to be a sub-contractor of KeepRite https://k-rp.com/our-company/

That did not take long for TMT Mechanical to get the video pulled.

Maybe he took it down because he is seeking legal action. The local authorities and press were aware of the incident

Speaking of road rage... just going to youtube and watching that video in the OP, opened up a window to a lot more road rage video. There are some really messed up angry, crazy drivers out there... and those are just the ones caught on video... Yow!

Watch out, out there.

Since he could make more money off the video than he would likely get from the road rager, he likely did not take it down on his own volition.

Yep, probably only 1 in 100 incidents make it to YT.

You don't make money on YT unless you have a following and ads. Otherwise... you are just clickbait.

And you build your following and ads with such click bait videos as in the OP.
