Almost done with this one. Have to install the fenders and racks, and I'm done. I love restoring these old bikes. It gets expensive, but I don't play golf, so what the heck.....

Looks beautiful. Makes me wish I still had my 86 Voyager... It was heavy but so smooth and comfy.

According to the Voyageur guide, the '86 weighed in at 24 lbs. My '90 is rated at 26 for whatever reason. I think the Tange CrMo frame is heavier than the Tenax. Still rides real nice. I really like this colour!

No, some cheap Amazon stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It wraps fine, but there is no adhesive on it when you wrap it. It's fine though IMHO.

I have an 86 also. A really lovely frame with chromed fork and stays (fork is painted as are seat stays).

Beautiful bike dude. Mine was similar minus the fenders. It made my 12 mile commute at the time smooth sailing.

Wow! Extremely retro looking! I love those water bottle cages and water bottle. And that Honey Brooks saddle and tape is more than I have in my whole bike. You spared no expense in yours. Are those Velo Orange racks? Wow, what a gorgeous ride. It's bikes like yours that I draw inspiration from!

If you find a great deal on a 25" Voyageur let me know. You seem to have some Voyageur mojo.

Thanks! I got some inspiration from others around here. The racks are both vintage Blackburn that have Jim Blackburn stamped on them. The bar tape is just shellacked yellow cotton. The cages are VO retro no tab. I found a few stainless bottles that I wrapped in twine & shellacked. Aside from the above items & the pump that came with it when I bought it, the Brooks b17, & SunTour bar end shifters are all I added. It came with the stock components. I really didn't spend a whole lot on it, apart from the b17.

Wow!! So much Voyageur love! (Be careful how you say that. Leaving the "g" out could get you in trouble).

Testors "Gloss Teal" is a pretty good paint match as long as the white primer hasn't been skinned through. The primer shines through the paint to some extent due to the Emerald Green's translucence. Without the white primer, it looks more bluish.
I got my little bottle at Hobby Lobby.

The '86 frame is my favorite. What a well built, luxurious frame and one well worth building with modern components.

I'm retired now. If I told you how far I drove to get this Emerald Green '88, you'd think I was nuts (and my wife would agree with you). Let's just say round trip fuel was about $75 in my 3.5 eco-boost F150. I just can't let these nice old touring bikes go to waste. They call my name!

Prime those areas white first before you touch that up. Then, you'll probably get a decent match.

Mine is "Oh Crap!" heavy. That's what I said when I picked it up one day, anyhow.
