Tire Sizes

Hi.

I have a general question about tire sizes. My bike came with 700x32c tires, I’m looking to get a set of beefier tires. What sizes would you recommend?

thanks.

Thicker tires as far as material, or larger tires as in volume of air?
Also,which bike of yours?

Tire selection is based on a combination of bike type, rim size, and type of riding. Let us know what bike you have and what kind of riding (road, trails, single track, etc) you expect to do.

I'll defer to someone who has that bike and can best tell you what is the max tires they can fit. I can't find much on google. How much clearance do you have now with 700x32 tires?

25's should easily fit. 28's can be a mixed bag, especially with tires that run large, such as Conti GP 4000 SII's.
Another thing I just considered is your inner rim width. Have you measured it?
Schwalbe has a good fit chart here: https://www.schwalbetires.com//tech_...dimensions#rim

your bike is from the 90s, I think you're ok with 25mm tires. Any tires larger than 25mm probably not gonna fit

Now, if you're looking to get really creative and with 38mm tires, you could always go with a 650b setup. This would require 27.5 (650b) rim brake wheels and most likely longer reach brakes. I'm am in the process of converting one of my bikes to 650b. But with this setup, I will be slower (but gravel is now no problem)
But for now, if I were you, stick to 25s and find tires that are made with 110-130TPI (Threads per inch) casings. They will be more supple, faster, and actually more provide a more pleasant ride than, say, Gatorskins.
