Your Weekend Ride Reports -- June 20/21

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Happy Father's Day weekend (in some parts of the world).
Happy Solstice weekend.

Tell us what cycling you've done to celebrate these!

Got in my longest ride in a few years for fathers day. Felt good to get a little climbing in too since I don't do much most days.

Went around the lake today, and included two longer intervals. Was great but I am feeling it now, super weak. Did have a lot of PRs along the way but not sure if it was worth it.

Had a long ride planned. After 20 or so miles I was pretty wet from the drizzle so I opted to conclude the ride and wait for nicer weather.

I wasn't really feeling too good to ride on Sunday (completely my fault, slept very late) but I forced myself up anyways. Thought I'd just do a short, easy ride.

Out the door, thought to myself, since this is a short easy ride maybe I'll do the slightly longer loop instead (24-ish km instead of 18-ish).

Nearly done with that loop I was still feeling good. Maybe another round... slightly harder pace than the last one.

And then soon after that...

Sweet looking bike! Even the bottles have blue caps to go with the slight blue color scheme.

I did 30.6 miles on the Santa Ana River Trail today. Very enjoyable ride, put me at 66.3 miles on the week!

Tuesday I went for my evening 27 mile Davis Is. ride. I was feeling good and going fast when I hit a good sized pothole ( more like a trench in front of a railroad track). Put a big dent and wobble in my back wheel. I finished my ride, but would have gone farther had I not messed up my wheel. Saturday I was back in the Ocala Nat. forest. It was a cloudy, muggy and very moist 41 miles.

Sunday was a repeat except the sun was out full force. I did not feel very good and had to stop a couple of times to regroup.

Around 30 miles Saturday and Sunday, variations of my usual routes. Met a friend partway through one ride, rode and chattered for a few miles. Probably only my second "group" ride since March, both impromptu intersections with friends along the same routes.

Felt kinda stale and tired all week, probably should have made it a rest week, but went ahead and rode my usual distances but at a much easier effort. Kinda nice, not huffing and puffing, not thinking about PRs (although I got one unintentionally, mostly due to a hefty tailwind). We'll see how I feel this week.
