Just picked this one up tonight, looks like a 1986 Centurion Ironman Master Dave Scott, serial number N6S1053 full Shimano 600 EX

^^^^^^ It's a 1987. There was no "Master" designation in '86. The S likely indicates 19th fortnight, which would be September '86. I don't remember offhand if anyone's come up with a clever name for this colorway.

There's another Ironman thread, "Post your Centurion Ironman....". Would be worth checking in there as well.

The logo style is newer and the cage style on the Honor (?) rear derailleur was introduced for 1976. I believe it to be a 1977-1978 model manufactured in 1977. If not for the space between the 5th and 6th characters, the serial number format would match Bridgestone and those crimped and spot welded stays are typical of lower end, contract manufactured, Bridgestone product.

here is yet another Centurion bike I have asked for photos of the components, will post when I get them does anyone have any idea what year or what model this centurion might be, it's listed as an 80's. It's got nice lugs

at least on the headtube thanks
apparently it has weinmann center pull brakes, still working on the derailleurs

Thank-you for the submission. The subject bicycle was manufactured by Nissan. While I don't have a definitive interpretation for the serial number format, I beileve it's from either November 1978 or November 1979, which would make it a 1979 or 1980 model. While the picture is poor, the rear derailleur appears to be on the SunTour Vx variants, which would be era correct. The model appears to be a LeMans,

So, I have done it again, I picked up an old Centurion Super Le Mans I'm thinking early 70s the only numbers that I can find on the frame are on the top of the seat tube "S215". It has suntour V-GT rear derailleur, suntour spirt front derailleur, suntour bar end shifters cherry brake levers, I believe dia-compe brakes SR crankset. I would appreciate any input on this bike,









So, the sticker on the front brake caliper says Le mans
The date code on the front derailleur is OI

Try a large pipe wrench and long cheater bar and another person to hold bike to the ground.

So, upon closer inspection the brake calipers are also Cherry, I don't know if they are an independent company or if it's just model name, also can anyone verify whether the "S215" on the top of the seat tube is the serial number or is there another number somewhere that I should keep looking for. Cherry was brand of brakes manufactured by Cherry Industry Co. Ltd. of Osaka, Japan. They also marketed brakes under their Buffalo brand. Cherry was fairly common on entry level model in the 1970s. The last year for that version of the SunTour VGT was 1973 but I didn't think that the Super LeMans was in production that early. It would be interesting to know the two letter date codes on the back of the derailleurs. Also, both crankarms should have date codes on the back and if they're as early as the rear derailleur, they should be format 4x-x(x).

the date code on the front derailleur is OI, I haven't been able to find a date code on the rear derailleur and the back of the crank arms is smooth, no numbers or letters

Interesting dates codes. The front derailleur is from September 1972, which would make it a 1973 model and fits with the version of the SunTour VGT rear derailleur. However, the crankset is from 1975. Normally, you don't see date codes that far apart on a Japanese manufactured bicycle. As I stated previously, I don't recall Super LeMans dating back to 1973. Also, a SunTour Spirt front derailleur is lower level than I'd expect to find on a Super LeMans. I think there is a higher probability that the crankset is OEM and that the bicycle is more likely a 1975-1976 model.

Ran across something interesting concerning the Facet. I have a 1986 Centurion Facet. It was the only aluminum frame Centurion ever sold and a one year model. The Diamond Back Arrival is the exact same construction, 7000 aluminum and color. Mine is marked "Made in Japan." We know Centurion and Diamond Back were designed and sold by the same company. It's interesting, but no one has figured out who built the Facet and this is definitely the same construction, but in a different geometry.
