ok
fat tire single speed anyone riding one.
i need new mtb but not high end fancy bike just wanna ride single track.

I have a ss fg and a fat bike but couldn't see combining the two. Turning the tires would get old fast. I could see a ss mtb with 2 - 2.5 tires though. An old school rigid 26r 1985 - 1995 era would be cheap to build as well. There are some good quality light frames out there.

That's what I've got.
Great bike but, again, I couldn't imagine riding it single track SS. One would be too limited in range unless the trails were mainly flat. I've got 36/22 x 11-40 and use the full range just doing the local trail system I can ride to from my house.

I built my Pugsley as an SS at first. I decided that a fatbike is the style that needs gears. I have had a Nuvince 360 CVT hub on it for a few years now. I ran it as a 1x9 until I accidentally tore the deraillier hanger off it on a rock.

Best if you can find a frame with sliding dropouts, but I really doubt any $700 completes come with that.
If you can find a used Surly, many of them have sliding dropouts (my Wednesday does).

At price range you are going to be needing to buy a complete bike. I seriously doubt you will find a complete SS build, so look at buying a geared complete and do a conversion.

nj has great trails but rocky. he glides over ****.
love it vs. full suspension. lighter things to break.
but i lack the $$$
going ss was in theory the low cost answer.
