Guerciotti Build
I picked up this frame a year or so ago. When I saw it I couldn't pass it up. The frame was in great condition but the finish had seen it's better days. I've decided to restore. I just dropped the frame off at the plater. I'm going to document the restoration here. If your interested stop in on occasion.
Here's the frame as bought.
Gregg Reich added the noodles in the bottom bracket.
I'll be posting here over the next few months. I can't wait for the first ride.

I did check, seat post fits easily. Yes AIR tubes, AIR post. In the end I may plate the stem. Just thinking now maybe I'll take it to the plater and make it black to match the wheels.

Back from the plater. Sit for a month then off to install the decals and clear, then it's all down hill.

I have a frame of the same era but not the aero version you have. I think these were made by Mondonico, who ran the Guerciotti shop for a number of years. I bet it does not have the ten speed drive engraving anywhere, typical of imports with those decals and the seat stay cap engraving. I have never seen another builder use that particular chainstay bridge. It is going to be a gorgeous build. Now you need to start collecting the wonderful set of Guerciotti pantograph parts.
I copied this 1979 NY Show bike from Ray Dobbins site:
79 Guerciotti
Have fun with the build

Spectacular looking from the photos, probably even better when done and fully polished. Who was the plating company, do they do bikes regularly, was it a real 3-4 layer job, and what did they charge if you don't mind sharing? Do they also do automotive parts such as bumpers? Hard to find good platers these days with all the environmental regs that are important and necessary.

If mackgoo can't drop the pack of riders behind him this gold plated frame will definitely blind them and slow them down.

I'm new to the forum and rebuilding an old road bike for the first time. How many times have you done this?

I've done it 4 or 5 times. Not to this degree though. Usually I'll buy a bike and just rebuild to my liking components wise. Or pick a frame and do the same. This one, down to bare metal and back.

Thanks for the reply. I love working on the bike. It's therapeutic. Mine is stripped down to the headset and bottom bracket. Working on a lot of old rusted parts but it is coming back nicely. Thinking about repainting it myself. Have you done that? If so, any suggestions?

The company is Beo-Mag Plating in Santa Anna. They mostly do autos and motorcycles. I think it came out great. As far as the process I don't know, I'm sure it's what would be the standard process. It cost 600 bucks for the main frame, 160 for the forks and I forget what the seat post cost, not more than 100. I was happy with the cost. It cost more than that to have Joe Bell paint my Ti Mega Tube.

I've never repainted a frame. I have seen people to very good jobs with the rattle can. I just prefer to leave that to the professionals.
