Hey all,
I am fairly new to the cycle scene and was wondering if there were people in similar situation as me and are looking for buddies to cycle with....
at the mo i am only cycling with a flatmate of mine and thinking it would be way better to have more
we are both just beginners...and at the present moment are doing maybe 30km rides when we go and thinking of gradually increasing that number...and planning to enter Taupo to Rotorua 100k flyer next march as our goal....
so any comments or show of interests would be appreciated....
thanks..

If you're in Auckland, join one of the group rides that welcome new riders.
Hot Cycles and the Avanti Plus stores run group rides, and encourage new riders to the scene. Check their web sites for details.

After a winter of illness, and a dodgy knee the last 2 weeks.... Saturday should be interesting. I think I have corrected my knee complaint though, by twisting the seat ever so slightly!
I'm just going to sit in and enjoy it maybe do a sprint finish
All the best everyone,
Brendon

Good luck all. Depending on the weather I might come down to Taupo to cheer you all in and join in the pissup afterwards.

Weather looks fine but windy. Eek.
I shall be attempting to go faster than last year, though a bike fit on my new ride 2 weeks ago resulted in raised seat height and now unresolved pain in the back of my knees.
It might be a long day or a short one in the back of the sag wagon.
Will be starting in the 5.30 group.
Ride well fellow Kiwis.

Des, If you're getting pain behind your knees it sounds like you need to do some hamstring stretches, but I'd consider dropping the seat back down and raising it 1 or 2 mm a week at a time so it's a gradual change.

Yeah, have dropped it a touch, but as am sore I am a little scared to further stretch an overstretched tendon/muscle.
But hey in 36 hours will be on the Control Gate Hill, so here goes nothing ;-)
