My buddy and I rode our no suspension 29+ bikes. It was Sunday so there were plenty of other riders on the trail.
Riding a 29+ in 2016 is like riding a regular 29er back in 2007. In 2007 just about everyone was still riding 26ers and everyone you met was curious about them, 29ers. Of course there were those who were sceptical about them and some who were downright hostile. Anyone you met that was also on a 29er was instantly your friend. As a matter a fact that is how I met my buddy nine years ago.
Then, of course, there was the ridiculous argument about the "heavier" wheels. We all know how that turned out. Now 26ers are the more rare sighting. I like to say that 29ers did to 26ers what The Beatles did to Elvis.
It's exactly the same riding a 29+ in 2016. Loads of curious 29er riders, scepticism, hostility, and doubts about the heavy wheels. My opinion is that the 29+ is as big an improvement over the 29er as the 29er was over the 26er.
We "raced" lots of other riders on full suspension bikes. None of them were faster and, fortunately, none of them were hostile. A fun, fun time.

Last week I 'PR'd' (Personal Record) just Inside the top 100 Out of 259 riders In the Meadows, I ranked 95 on my second lap.
This week I ranked 74 out of 259 riders, shaved another 28 seconds on my first lap The KOM did the run In 2:57 and the Local Hot shoe Is In second at 3:03 seconds. These guys are 30 and 26 years old,,, My time was 4:25
I'm real high on this little triumph, Me at 57 years young on a 28 pound full squish 27.5 bike while my guestimate Including the riders I know Is that 90-95% of the guys ahead of me are on sub 25 pound big dollar bikes and many are on super light carbon hard tails.
Not to mention many I have met are under forty
I'm going out tomorrow and get myself right back In the Hurt Locker. There Is this place In my head,,It keeps telling me, "This Is good stuff"
Oh and I almost forgot, I blew the final climb by downshifting too far, this caused me to blow most of my momentum.
I ended up crawling up the last rise in 1st gear and in the saddle.
When I did this my riding buddy blew past me on his single speed......

3 days in Moab = 5 rides (Two were back-to-back Porcupine shuttles 1 day)
1 days in Eagle = 1 ride
I'm tired, real tired.

Felt reasonably well and healthy after a week and a half of vertigo and some seriously bad-buzz med. Piddled around on the bike yesterday. Went out pretty strong today with Strava telling me I've got a pile of personal bests. Feels good to be back out there again.

This was from 2 days ago. Since I reactivated in thus forums a few weeks ago. I decided to go back to the foothills trail where I crashed a few yrs ago. I've rationalzied it that i burn more calories in my flat trail ride, still fun but ni danger of crashing etc....I forgot how fun the smooth downhill stretches were. I don't do technical stuff.
The first pic I've titled "hiking with bicycle"
The second I've titled. " hiking with bicycle 2 -you've got to be kidding me"
I haven't seen these stretches in several years and I've walked them back then as well.

Actually, was on a trail last weekend and came to the spot that I've always had to walk down before and this time it wasn't bad at all. Not sure if I'm getting better, or if the rainfall since last time I was out there moved some dirt around.

Opposite for me. I don't remember using my granny gear in the past climbing the trail where it was smooth. When I went back to it I found myself using the granny gear.
I was able to pedal through some sections the second time that I walked up the last trip that I used to walk up even from before. As I mentioned I started using the granny gear.

Haha, I'm almost always in the granny gear on my 2x bike, the other bike is 1x, so that one is pretty much in the granny gear at all times too. Spin to win!

Got out to the trail head at sunrise, Unloaded the bike and spotted a thorn sticking out of the back tire,
Pulled it out, SSsssSsssSSssss,s s, s ,s ,,,,, Leaked stopped, I added 1 single psi and rode on~~~~ Tubeless Rawks !
It sealed right up and the sealant has not been refreshed or added to in four months now, since I mounted that tire...
As for the ride, During the long two mile fire road ride in my legs were weak and complaining.
I turned off my mind, closed down all the running apps we all have on 24/7 then I up shifted 2 more gears, put the hammer down, started my combat breathing. About the 3rd mile I was In the flow 100%
I will go back out tomorrow, I need more of that

I actually burped all of the air out of my front tire last time I was out and had to put a tube in it.
I'm just not having much luck getting the stock pair of wheels setup tubeless. Granted, both the wheels and the tires aren't tubeless ready, but I've never had this issue before. Just can't get the tires to stay stuck. So I ended up ordering a new wheelset. haha

Had a nice ride in the rain yesterday. The trails were draining well, and not as many other riders. I did have a weird experience. On the way back to the car I was tired and daydreaming when a group of 4 younger guys caught up to me. They showed terrible manners and really were not very fast, especially on the uphill. Then, a big surprise to me, they appeared to be terrified of a new downhill (ish) trail. I will never understand passing people and then slowing down. I am not fast, but I am not slow. And, I do not pass others unless I know that I will not be slowing them down. Just a few thoughts.

Was flying down a trail, I come up on a new rider real fast and get Intimate with my brakes, modulating both at the point right before lockup.
He hears me and falls against a tree,
I come to a stop less than 2 feet from his back,
I forget to Un-clip,
I fall over like a drunk grandpa on a kiddy trike,
Was great ride ~

I rode an unknown trail today, the Baldwin Reservoir trail. It cuts across about two miles of greenbelt in the suburbs, scorned for a bigger riding area in nearby Granite Bay. The path was mostly untraveled. It follows fences along a wilderness area, ranges, and housing developments, and crosses Linda Creek, a salmon habitat. It's mostly straight along the fences, though enough bumps and elevation change to provide entertainment. There's a middle section where it crosses the creek and it's twisty and rocky and up and down, fun!
This was my first and only ride in a while, my chronic problem mentioned back in spring has persisted. I've got a little surgery next week for it and not sure when I'll make it back on a bike after that. I will, though, and the problem will be gone.

Genetics have failed me
Went for a long haul yesterday. 33 miles of up and down. Some steep hills and a few good single trails. I had just switched over to tubeless and wanted to see how it feels. Bike tracks wonderfully, even through rough, rocky terrain. So far I love it.
