Need some info on these vintage Marinonis - GREAT FIND!!
Greetings fellow vintage-steel-bike enthusiasts,
I picked up two Marinonis for a really great price today and I'm looking forward to restore them. I know I should have given them a good clean up before posting pics, but I was too excited to show them to you. No serial numbers to be found, so I need your precious knowledge in order to determine the year, original parts, quality, etc. Please help me out by sharing your impressions.

I'm still wondering if I should restore it or sell the parts and keep the frame. The bike is a tiny little bit too small for me, but so beautiful!

Dare I ask: how much did you pay for them?

Nice find. I'm a fan of those bars. Let me know if you do decide to part them out.

Hey randyjawa! Happy you replied. I had already checked your post on your website and thought you made an awesome build out of your Marinoni Quebec. Still no idea on the year?

I think I'll wait till I make up my mind before throwing prices around. I paid a good amount, but still got a crazy bargain. What made the difference is that I offered more than what the seller was asking, and so he agreed to save them for me. I was lucky to see his ad on the local classifieds just a couple of hours after he posted it. It also helped that I made an offer for everything he was selling, which included a really sexy golden Alan competition frame. The seller inherited the bikes from a friend who passed away and didn't really know what he was selling.
I'll give that effort everything I got! Funny thing is that now you're making me have second thoughts about giving the Alan frame to my friend! All three frames are about the same size.

@mushroom,
Hope you get some info on these, and can possibly make them fit. Very nice finds.

OK there's been some exciting developments. I finally got the year of the first bike! I dropped a line to Marinoni and they helped me find the serial number and determine the year and original specs.
The Marinoni Quebec is called Marinoni Fleur de Lys and mine dates from 1979. It seems to be a higher-end model, judging by the components and the original price (2000$+ in today standards). All components seem to be original except for the wheels, which were upgraded somewhere along the way.
I'll have to wait to know all the details about the second bike, as the serial number seems to be on the fork and I don't want to unmount it from the headset for now.

What would you guys modify if you were to restore the Fleur de Lys? I already aligned the wheels and I'm thinking about changing the cables, sheath, handlebar tape and maybe the saddle. Is there anything else I should look out for? Mechanics seem to work A+ and the brake pads look like new.
I'm all excited about this build.
