Best Oil Can For a 3 - Speed?

Best Oil Can For a 3 - Speed?
Getting oil into a 3-speed hub can be messy. I would like to see the best practices from the members ( I just bought a 6 oz. oiler with a flex spout BTW).

You can always go in through the side door if you have trouble injecting it in the oiler. If you remove the indicator, you can put the oil in that way.

An eyedropper does a decent job. Also, if you have a steady hand, anything that lets you dispense drop by drop works. Get a falling drop to land over the hole, and it draws in very neatly. This is how I oil electric motors all the time, and it works very well (until I miss).
BTW - here's a trick for getting oil into a hard to reach place. Use an icepick or skewer of some kind, and put one end at the oil port, and sloping up from there. Apply a drop to the end and it runs down very nicely.

Dan's Side Door, There is a hollow end of the axle ...
the shifter has a pin threaded into the piece that does the selecting. removing that pin
the chain on S-A hubs ... I squirt a little Phil Tenacious Oil from its container down that hollow end
and then screw the indicator-shift chain back In.. Quite Un Messy that way..

I use an old Rem oil bottle. The ubiquitous red plastic straws fit right in it and let me get right in there. I use synthetic 10-30 because I run it in my truck.

3 in One Motor Oil (Blue label! NOT black label) is probably the closest equivalent we have to the Sturmey Archer Oil of yore, both as a lubricant and as a dispensing container.

I use these little hair dye bottles my wife gets. Their nozzle is just the right size.
