I want to boot my laptop in 10 seconds because im a geek lol .which os is the fastest to boot?

Chrome books are relatively inexpensive, lightweight, and boot up fast.

yeah I have a chromebook but it requires password to log in so that takes time. I got a great deal on my chromebook it was 129 bucks at bestbuy

Probably something like MSDOS or DRDOS on an SSD.
For something modern, OSX on a Macbook Air or other SSD based Mac is fast to come up from a cold boot.
How often do you really boot anyway vs sleep/hibernate?

I think it's clear that using an SSD instead of a spindle drive has far more effect on boot time than the OS choice. You also want to ensure there's plenty of RAM so it's not a bottleneck.

According to what you are doing...I find for most routine use that Ubuntu likes 2G of ram, Windows likes 4 or more.

I have 8 gigs and just bought a cheap ssd installing win 8 on it now. It's crazy it says it will last 1 million hours I think they call it Mt f I did have a 60 gig ssd in it. This one is 240 gb and was just 85 bucks and it's made in the usa

I have 2 laptops that I use frequently, I have put SSD's in both of them.
The first is a Dell E6500. This is a business class laptop and when I bought it I searched for one with a fast processor. Even though this machine is over 5 years old it has a dual core processor at 2.5GHz. I installed a clean install of Win 7 home premium. It boots in about 15 sec, much faster than it did with the WD Black hard drive that it came with. 15 sec. is great for me, if I wanted faster I would do the sleep/hibernate thing.
The second is a small and light Toshiba that I use for travel. It has a dual core processor at about 1.7 GHz. I put an SSD in it too but migrated the original Toshiba Win 7 home premium install to it so there is bloatware. It takes almost a minute to boot, not much faster than it did with the slow Toshiba hard drive that it came with.
Edit- I just timed it and the Dell Latitude did the full boot in 23 sec. Apparently I was remembering wrong.

My 2007 Dell Latitude D620 boots cold in 12 seconds and when hibernated, in 6 seconds.
It's running Win/XP Pro with 4gb RAM and a 128gb Crucial SSD.

now my win 8.a laptop reboots in 20 seconds and boots in 10 so I reached my goal .id go for 5 seconds but this machine is kinda old

You might check in BIOS and see if the system is "Fast Start" capable. Some motherboards support quick boot or fast start according to your system parameters. You may find a few extra seconds there.

My $200 windows 8 Acer comp with a crappy processor, 4gb ram, and an hdd boots fast enough that I can be on the internet 15 seconds after powering on. Apparently it takes around a minute for everything to completely boot, but nothing I use.
