Got to ride today after 10 days of no riding due to horrible AQI, it wasn't far but man pedaling in clean air felt so good!

omg that might be a record for that area in the last 55 years. mid-30's?!?! nfw...was having noticeable issues riding slower than usual in the low 140's in san diego land in the last week.

unfortunate sign o' the times is the simple fact we'll be posting more often about aqi instead of temps...but when you bring both...whoa. full stop.

Smoke is creeping back into the San Joaquin today but this weekend was great, and with the AQI yesterday morning hovering around 45 in Visalia I took a 28 mile ride out towards Hanford and just enjoyed puttering around for once in a rather long while!

Hopefully the opportunity will present itself again sooner than later.

Wife and I rode MTB in Chino Hills, CA very early AM Saturday and Sunday. Perfect weather and no AQI problems (readings in the 60 or so area when I checked). What a blast.

Rode the dented Super Tourer in Anarchyville, USA. Enjoyed the anarchy, which I assume was the nice weather and cycling around green lake.

The weather is starting to creep into fall rains, so time to pick up some fenders. Might just bite the bullet and get new ones, old Blumels Classiques are harder to find than I had hoped.

Fenders could be going fast!

If you have trouble finding new fenders, we still have quite a few used left over from the Bike Works Warehouse Sale last Sunday.

OMG, thoughts n' prayers. I'm so relieved you made it back home alive. I understand Seattle is not just anarchy, but an Anarchy Jurisdiction.

If you'll excuse me now, I am going to eat a plate of Jumbo Shrimp and read an article on Military Intelligence.

Well, it looks like they really are after me. 🤔
I recently rode down through the San Francisco bay area, as many of you know. I had previously gone through San Jose, going North, so all I wanted to do, was finish circling the bay, for some crazy reason. So once I hit Palo Alto & Mountain View, I just turned around and headed North again.

So I’ve been going North again for about a day and a half, and just got into Petaluma. Now they’re claiming there’s a NEW fire, right about in my way, lol. 😲🙄😩

Don’t worry about me at all, I’ll be fine, it just seems like “they” are out to get me this year. 🙄😉

EDIT: Meant to say, my improvised travel plans now take me directly up the coastline, so I can jump in the ocean, if needed. 😁😉

I made it to the NW corner of Petaluma now, and look what the wind just brought us. 😲

I was considering going on up to Santa Rosa, before going West, but I think I’ll do the smaller road, that goes right to the ocean from here. 😉

It has been nice in Ventura county. Went for a nice 40 mile ride in cool, fall like weather. I am so glad we didn’t get the high temps and gusty canyon winds.......yet!

I took a calculated risk, after talking to a few people, and headed North on 101 after all. Or more precisely, the Old Redwood Highway, which is like a frontage road for 101. I got through Santa Rosa last night, and just got to Healdsburg, which is right on the Russian River. Seems like a good place to hang & rest awhile, and maybe swim later. 😎

Rode to Kirkland yesterday and thought I saw you on the trail on the way back. Didn't know you wore Hawaiian shirts, but it was hot and looked comfortable. No work gloves, so I didn't call out. If not you, you have a doppelganger out there. Probably evil.

Tim's shirt will vary, but the dead giveaway are the khaki shorts.

The air quality in Central California has been hit and miss for most of 2 months now. I had a day off today fro a couple of appointments in the morning, but the air was so bad most of the day I didn't get out until 4:00 when the temperature was in the upper 90s. I squeezed in 24 miles and was home in time to watch the debate.

Those two pics are both long and/or arduous rides in very warm weather (Hurricane Ridge & Tour de Palouse). So you can bet I was wearing my nylon compression shorts under those khakis. So, basically cycling shorts; keeping the boys high and tight, preventing chafing, etc.

Extreme NW corner of CONUS mostly clear this week, I was down for job training in Tumwater WA all week, took a few short rides around Capitol Lake, up there near the state capital campus. Only had one orange-sun day; AQI was reasonable all week. You can see the orangey glow pretty well.

If you see my doppelgänger out there, be very careful. Karmic balance would suggest he's extremely evil, just to even things out.
