Been around the block
I saw this posted in Trollheim, and I couldn't just leave it stuck in there, and we do need some more silliness in 2020. Enjoy!
The original with Annette Funicello and the Beach Boys.

Rosetta Tharpe, btw, influenced quite a few musicians according to their personal mentions of credit to her.
Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Junior Bernard (who in turn influenced quite a few guitar players) probably some others as well.

among the pieces is Chris Kenner's verses from ‘land of 1000 dances’, so it must qualify!
….it also ended the second season of ‘Millennium’ as it’s learned that a deadly virus had been unleashed upon the planet.
and in my mind it’s from a great album

Early Patti Smith covering Jimi Hendrix who covered The Leaves. Lots of covers out there of the song written by Billy Roberts
The 1974 release of ‘Hey Joe’ as the A-side to her song ‘Piss Factory’, was so different from the Hendrix one they all knew and loved. It was because Smith used the blues arrangement of Roy Buchanan’s version to add a new engaging slant on the song.

Now the intended subject for today, music biz daughter Aaryn moved to Seattle partly to work more closely with this band. Some good things happening for Avoid recently with one of their songs being picked up for a video game: Nascar Heat 5. And they're legit racing fans and sponsor a car (maybe 6" of space on a fender, but they're on there
) Kind of surprising for a bunch of Seattle punks.

I was looking for a live cover of The Fat Lady of Limbourg by Shivaree an I happily stumbled on this:
https://youtu.be/gndUi1YxEgU
EDIT: What happened to auto-embedding?
I see down in the User Assistance forum there's an issue. Trust me, this is a great, if quirky cover of one of Eno's best...

2 totally different takes male vs. female; personally I love the lady - the guys have the energy of the original but she's so cool
first the boys - The Greys

then Joey Slater's take

Here is a great simple song that Delaney & Bonnie did. It seems like millions of folks have covered this one. Delaney Bramlett wrote it. A brief bit of info about Delaney & Bonnie for those of you under sixty years old: Led by a Husband & Wife thus the name, group made up of really good musicians playing there own southern soul influenced boogie rock and roll..........Their big break came when they become tour openers for BLIND FAITH's American Tour. Both Blind Faith's guitarist Eric Clapton and the audiences preferred what Delaney & Bonnie were doing to what "super-group" Blind Faith was doing beyond one or two songs. Eric Clapton and many of his famous English rocker pals became fast friends with the members of D&B. Before Blind Faith's 1969 US tour concluded, Eric has said that he was having more fun onstage with the opening act D&B, than with BF and like just a year before when in CREAM, he and Winwood realized this wasn't working out as planned. Before the end of Nov 1969, Eric is guesting with D&B on live television shows on British television. Some time earlier than that, likely while the Blind Faith US tour was going, EC begins writing with Bonnie and recording/rehearsing songs for what would become ERIC CLAPTON-ERIC CLAPTON album which the personnel would be all the members of D&B and George Harrison. Delaney encouraged Eric to sing. Okay on DEC 1, 1969 Delaney & Bonnie begin a British Tour with Eric Clapton on board as a friend and George Harrison too after the first night, they do the entire two week Delaney & Bonnie British Tour. A great live LP (45min, all that would fit on a single LP) came out in 1970 from ATCO Records " Delaney & Bonnie On Tour With Eric Clapton". George Harrision is credited as "mysterioso" on the album credits. Danish had a live television broadcast of the Dec 10th ? I think, and filmed it also the Falkonner Th. in Copenhagen which has Eric Clapton performing the song I DON'T KNOW WHY while wearing Ray-Ban shades like the ones Joe Biden wears today. That song was released on Eric Clapton-Eric Clapton LP in 1970. The entire Delaney & Bonnie group also would be the group of musicians for GEORGE HARRISON's ALL THINGS MUST PASS 3LP released in 1970. Hey there is more........JOE COCKER would take the entire Delaney & Bonnie band soon after leaving Bonnie and Delaney without any other musicians. After Joe's Mad Dogs.. tour, the sax player Bobby Keys, and trumpet player Jim Price became touring members of the Rolling Stones' 1970 European Tour. The other D&B sidemen recorded Eric Clapton's second release ....derek = eric and so for whatever reason EC called the 2nd release, DEREK & THE DOMINOS - Layla & Other assorted love songs and they(EC & former D&B sidemen) would tour the US in the fall of 1970 as Derek & the Dominos. Bonnie and Delaney were equally talented musically as their former sidemen, but they were also trying to maintain as D&B with other personnel to fill the void. I think Delaney had been a member of the Shindig tv show house backing band in the mid 60's which may have also included Billy Preston but I don't know and I may be totally wrong..........there were a lot of talented folks playing on that tv show, and you didn't pay attention or know who they were as at the time. Bonnie had been an Ikette with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. I never saw her on any early tv appearance with Ike & Tina. I saw Ike & Tina a few times live and and this was already much later when D&B were together and Ike & Tina were super-stars. Here is Delaney & Bonnie's biggest hit on the charts, a song written by Delaney Bramlett called "NEVER ENDING SONG OF LOVE". Though Delaney & Bonnie are somewhat overshadowed by the superstar success that their former bandmate, Rita Coolidge achieved, they did have a handful of classic songs that stand the test of time. The Carpenters did a fine job with one of their songs though they Bonnie & Delaney didn't become superstars although Rita did and all the other original band members became mega-famous. Folks like the Black Crowes and Tedeschi-Trucks Band often would cover a bunch of D&B songs live in concert. Delaney & Bonnie are certainly more deserving than a few of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Selections of Recent Years. I would not place them on the top of the list of acts that NEED to be immediately installed, as THREE DOG NIGHT and JOHNNY RIVERS deserve immediate installation before anyone else, past or present, not currently there!
