Wore a long sleeve base layer could of went without but that less nasty sunblock to apply. Going to go on a cold beer run to the metropolis of Hondo. Taking forever for the cool weather to arrive.

101F here today. So far this year 145 days of 100F+ including 50 with over 110F.
But it is much cooler in evening and morning so I am finally getting out after being holed up at home all summer.
My son is getting a Patagucci nano-puffy for his birthday this month. Those are perfect for the winter here soon to be coming.

I have Tucson tentatively planned for March. 130 miles of paved trails sounds good. Plus the off road stuff as well...

there are places where MTBers divert off the loop and ride down into the river bed and you can come back up to the loop and exit right into town and old tuscan and get yeehaw happy ... i don't know Tucson that well but I know you can spend all your time on and around the loop and see a lot of neat places

We were going camping in South Lake Tahoe this weekend but we had to cut it off after the first night due to a family medical problem. It was nice and cold up there. I don’t think there’s been any snow yet, the weather hasn’t been wet, but I’m sure it could. We could use it. It’s a new “water year” and last one was droughty.

I have a nano puff jacket by north face. It’s nice and warm, and it’s a cool pattern (a dark rainbow that looks like rough gray at any distance)

I have way too many jackets and coats. Looking through my closet, it appears I have something for every 5 degree increments in temperatures below 70 F. I still have my Navy wool pea coat from 1976, still fits, still wear it once in awhile -- especially when it's foggy out. Add a pipe, a can of spinach, and I'm ready to go.

For bike rides, last winter I mostly used a Pearl Izumi long sleeve jersey with windbreaker front, including the arms, and breathable rear fabric. Terrific for chilly windy days when I don't want a flappy jacket acting like a sail. Depending on the temperature I'll wear a sleeveless, short sleeve or long sleeve baselayer. Half price because the cool kids don't like hi-viz yellow, but I don't care.

And for actually cold weather, cheap thermal jersey/jacket that's the most comfortable thing I've ever found for winter bike rides. Cost maybe $20, one of those oddly named Chinese apparel makers that sound like they choose a name by tossing a cat onto the keyboard. If Pearl Izumi or another maker made it exactly the same way they'd slap a $100 price tag on and would probably sell a bunch. They're really good values.

I went hiking yesterday. Got snowed on lightly, on and off throughout the day. Got back to the car in the dark. It was 24 degrees F when I finished.

A foot of snow coming in today, I don't know if I'll be able to get back up there without skis until June.

Was 53 this morning just put on a cotton sweatshirt still in shorts. Nice day. Tomorrow it will be 87 but Monday evening we get the Arctic blast and hopefully some much needed rain.

I just got to Eugene, Oregon, and it’s been getting into the 20s F regularly, in the mornings, coming through the mountains. But I got an ounce of Blue Dream shake for $32 yesterday, in Springfield, and Eugene should be even better. 😎😁😎

I put a down jacket over my cat the other night, it was a really nice one because she doesn't like weight on her. It's not mine anymore. My cat has a down parka. Guess it's more of a comforter for her. My cat has a 900 fill power down comforter.

She's a senior and has a little bit of arthritis, being toasty warm is good for her.

There was frost on my car the other day, early morning and in town. We're right on the water, it's usually pretty mild. I was hoping me and kitty could share that jacket, but she made it clear that's not going to happen.

My adopted cat. I thought was a feral tomcat after a few months of care I was surprised the cat was once very tame. He showed up in bad shape and after some love the cat responded in kind. Set up a place to sleep with the colder nights we have now. Yup some fighting wounds but that is what they are going to do.

I can true bike wheels.

Since Parsley loves her down jacket so much, I bought a pound of the stuff and made her a pillow. I don't know how to sew so it took me hours and a lot of frustration. And really all I had to do was move it from a bag to a pillow case and close one end. Half a work day to accomplish that. I've heard down pillows are incredibly luxurious, I've never had one, wouldn't know, but the cat loves it.

Honestly I think part of it is cats just like being fussed over. You bring a dog food, they think you must be a benevolent god. You bring a cat food, they take that as proof they're a god.

Wore my parka to work this morning. It was in the 40s and raining. Remnant of tropical storm Zeta. Rain has stopped, but still hilly and somewhat windy, with no sun. Should be down close to freezing here in Philly tonight.

Mmmyip, I have a full hooded Eddie Bauer down parka, and I’ve been using it quite a bit lately. 👍 I also recently bought a really old down sleeping bag, that was made for the military, by a Taiwanese company called Pack-In. It says it has 2 pounds of grey duck down, and it’s long enough, lol, and pretty warm. 😍😁
