What is your cycling thang?
What is it that you set out to do most of the time when taking off on your bike? Get really passionate about, or primarily specializes in?

Fun/enjoyment of riding. Not gonna set any Strava KOMs or endurance records at my age... I do have an overall ET I strive to maintain/beat on my 12.5-mile commute, but that is largely dependent on traffic lights.
Whatever your goals, the most important part is to ENJOY THE RIDE!!!!

I like to ride as fast as I can over longer distances with a lot of climbing, especially on new roads, routes or trails. And I hate going to work. Where do I fit in?

Don’t specialize in one. But enjoy: Speed + Climbing + Distance, which probably means I’m not very good at any of them.

I commute and I ride for enjoyment. My favourite type of riding is off road, gravel, singletrack. I love exploring and just enjoying the nature around me.

I love my wife and enjoy cycling. Pre-cancer it was speed, distance and when possible after traveling 1 to 12 hours to get to the climbing. Up until about a month age it was basically distance but that is even suffering now.

For me it is a balance of getting my vintage racers back in top nik and riding along . I feel every subtle movement of the bicycle and my effort to propel it to my destination. The journey defines my obsession and why I do this. At 66 , my speed is important only in a personal achievement sense not relative to anyone else. I get passed and I pass others . When I was in my twenties I HAD to pass everyone I saw and got very annoyed when I couldn’t . Although I long for the speed I used to achieve, I think I actually get more out of every mile than I ever have.

I'm doing it for the exercise. I do enjoy riding, which is good because if I didn't, I'm sure I wouldn't be motivated to keep riding and get the exercise.

I can relate. I try to pay attention to wind direction. I usually need it behind me at the end.

Fitness. I like to ride consistently at a good pace that gives me a workout that makes me feel like I have done something to maintain fitness.
No sprinting, no racing, just a good effort throughout.

any combination of the poll options but speed. used to bomb the downhills in full tuck and try to maximize speed. nowadays...anything above 32 mph gives me goosebumps.
i blame the five concussions more than the age. the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

Fitness and fun. I'm not fast, suck at climbing, and aren't covering huge distances (I've worked my way up to 10k), but I'm enjoying it.
