Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A friend had one when we were about 13. I couldn't imagine anything cooler.

A friend's family had 5 Yamahas in the garage and once in a while I got to ride one. I wanted a motorcycle so bad when I was 12-15. Didn't get one until I was 26.

Geez, big john - I know that I'm too fat for this sport, but I'm not *that* fat. Pic from the post-ride the other day, just before I rolled out (being towards the edge of the wide-angle shot adds 20 lbs... ) -

Both you and the bicycle are quasi-fat.

Also, pink? Why are you wearing a scarf?

I know, it was just a reaction to the "gorilla on a football" statement. You are certainly more lean than I am.

Yesterday, while I was painting, it was in the 50's. Tonight the highs are predicted to be in the teens. With snow. Fml.

Just finished chipping ice from the driveway so that Mrs. rjones28 doesn't have to skate from the car to the house tonight.

Why is Douglas a neighbour and I'm a quasi-neighbour? Depending on where it is, I may be closer than he is.

You would probably be closer as the crow flies, but there are more state borders between SC and Knoxville than there are between SC and NW Metro Atlanta. Hence quasi-neighbor.

Northwestern. Prolly doesn't matter but I don't really want to say any specifics at the moment.

We're leaning that way. To be honest I'm terrified, but maybe I'll get over that soon.

Later on I worked at a company that put together motorcycles from their crates then delivered them to dealers. The boss had several Honda Z50's that we would short track race in the warehouse. I would worry a bit, simply because this bike boom isn't going to last forever. The bike business is fickle, to say the least.
