All it needs is a "stick" person riding it. It may be an engineering marvel but it looks like crap imo. Nothing graceful or elegant about it.

Lol!!! I thought, at first, that THIS WAS ACTUALLY WHAT THE BIKE LOOKED LIKE!!! Can you imagine that? 1 slight breeze and you'd be blown right over.

Ditto. My first thought was, "Well, that's interesting..."

Then I looked a little closer.

But... but... I see the shadows of the spokes.

It will be interesting to see the bike unmasked. My first folding bike was a Strida 2, and even though the wheel bearings turned out to be the weak link I thought it was a very clever design.

Is it just me or does it look to be a very compact fold?

The qicycle fold doesn't quite look like what's in the twitter photos.

He suggests that it's an electric bike too. Looking at the proto-type I wonder how it will fit taller folks.

It's here--new brand name of Southpoint bike. Smallwheeler, you were right, seems to be a connection with Qicycle.

Cool! Thanks for sharing the link.

I can't tell about the connection between the firms, but the fold is different than Qicycle. The Southpoint bike has a fold in the of the monotube and folds like a brompton.

Fold is excellent. Weight is pretty reasonable as well. Could not find a price....? Imo kind of ugly but if it rides well powered and unpowered and is priced right, one can live with a bit of ugly. NO brake cables....???

Or perhaps more accurately, another folder adopting the brilliant Andrew Ritchie concept (with Dr. Hon's 45deg side folding handle post).

Love the IGH with the show special transparent hubshell.

Hmmm...torn between lightweight and having e-assist.

Have no idea what transparent wheels are or do...guess I'll be hearing more about them.

Love the Brompton like fold but with an adjustable handlebar.

The connection with Qicycle is that they are owner company and Southpoint is a subsidiary? That's how I understand it.

Exactly. But with, say, Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires... not so much of a problem perhaps!

I suppose this is about replacing spokes with plastic. The transparency is there for the lightweight look.

Overall not my cup of tea - I do not ride no bicycle to then turn to a motor. Creativity in the design is very obvious but I tend to be scared when the designer wants to stand out in multitude of aspects of a product all at once. Statistically you fail in one idea or another - when you put many of them all at once you get a bloody nose here and there hampering the product.

I don't like the plastic transparent wheels. That alone makes me not interested. If they had a traditional build I'd be on board,...everything else is quite nice looking. The Qicycle is more to my liking,...if it were only available in North America.

Agreed. The pictures appear to have been taken at a bike show yet the wheels look absolutely horrible... scratched up and dirty. Can't imagine what they'd look like after a year's worth of riding.
