The bike that's "impossible" to get in this country...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The USA De Rosa distributor in Ca has a 58 cm Molteni frame in stock. Anything else requires at least a two month wait...

Arrgghh!

If you think that's hard, try buying a Catlike helmet in the USA (or Canada!)

Same helmet in orange used by the Euskaltel team

Hmmm - so what roads do you usually ride and in what direction. And what color helmet/jerseys do you usually wear

Anything worth having is worth waiting for. What's the wait time on a Sachs - 2+ years? A Vanilla = 18+ months. An Acme paint job = 15+ months.

2 months? Perfect. That'll give you time to save up for a Record/Chorus buildset.

Well, I reckon beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, but that is one ugly helmet.

OMG. I am far too impatient and impulsive to wait for one of those bikes. If I save (or have credit) to the point where I'm ready to purchase, I want the bike now. Heck, I hate even waiting for shipping for online purchases.

You folks have the patience of a saint to deal with two month waits... much less two years.

Tim.

Something very odd about a Merckx replica bike with that amount of drop between the seat and the bars and a CF bottle cage... I mean, is this about being retro or not?

Well, it's a marketing photo, not somebody's ride, eh? Lower the saddle a tad, and its fine. I don't think it was intended to be and exact replica...something about the stem that gives it away? Tribute, not replica. I can live with that, can you?

Here in Holland there's actually right about no way to obtain a Felt. There's only one retailer down in the hard-to-reach south who sells 'em. He probably gets them from the German distributor, as he's near the German border.

How 'bout the black T-Mobile Advanced with the monocoque seat tube that has to be cut? It's available in Euro and AUS but won't be coming here.

I waited 6 weeks for a Trek 1000. Didn't know better. Went to Atlanta the week after I ordered it and the same bike/size/color was sitting on the showroom floor for $40 cheaper.

I got PWNED!

That's my size, but I'm saving money for a downhill bike now...

For bonus OCP points, buy the bike and wear a Merckx replica jersey on it. When people ask you what the MOLTENI on the jersey is, you can properly confuse them by replying "It's a defunct italian sausage factory".
