Ever had a pine cone fall on your head while riding?

I know it may sound silly, but this morning while riding just as I passed a tree a pine cone fell exactly opposite of me (other side of road). If I'd been on my way back at that exact moment, I would likely have had a pine cone clobber me square on the head (thankfully I wear a helmet).

So, it just got me to wondering if anyone else has ever had that happen to them. Or maybe any other really "low probability" events.

well...kinda..
there's a big palm tree that my dog likes to think belongs to her, so she pees next to it every night. sometimes the tree will drop one of those little yellow berry things when she's taking care of business, and it makes a pretty good *thump* when it hits the ground. haven't been hit yet, but i expect it to happen eventually. and since i don't wear a helmet while walking the dog, i also suspect it'll hurt like hell when it finally does.

never had a pine cone hit me on the head while riding the bike. but have had a conker fall from a tree hitting the sun roof of the car didn't realise at first what it, just a huge bang. then realised i had glass falling on my head. Pulled over to inspect to find find a ruddy great big conker embedded into the glass roof

Somehow I think you are exaggerating.......I can't really picture a palm frond weighing 20kg by ANY stretch!

Una vez por mirar el camino me golpie con una rama de un árbol en la cabeza. Mi casco quedó con una gran endidura.

Had a big ole road apple conk me on the noggin just a few months ago. One of them big cottonwood thingies, all covered in mud or slime too. I was on the O&E towpath when it clobbered me right on top of my ball cap, left a bunch of mud too. Some gal riding the other way saw it and started laughing so hard she almost crashed.

Yes, this has happened to me. I wear a helmet and I wasn't going very fast, but it made a reaaalllllly loud noise.

I've been pelted by acorns almost every day. I think the squirrels aim for me. My friend is convinced it's the wind. I swear I can usually hear a squirrel s******ing right after, so I figure it must make their day.

I once got nailed in the head with an LP sized piece of ice off the top of a semi in city traffic. Chalk up another one for the helmet...

That's exactly the kind that fell next to me yesterday. It must have weighed at least 3 pounds.

I had a squirrel attempt to jump from one tree branch to the other as I passed. The problem was (and I saw this way before it happened) that the branch was so thin it couldn't support the squirrel, so he fell on top of my head! That freaked me out bad.

That was soooo funny!
Actually, they were black walnuts in their casings. We were dodging all kinds of things that day with the wind and the leaves and debris on the road.
Mirona even moved an entire tree out of the road!

I learned this last year with a friend (from another - computer - forum) in Leeds England last year. I guess they are like the seeds or whatever produced on the trees. They are like egg corns, but about the size of golf balls and very dense. I wouldn't want to be hit with one.

Yeah. I've been the target of a few well aimed plastic and glass bottles. Never was hit but nearly took a blow to the head with a glass coke bottle. All else were near tire or frame hits.

Ever had a pine cone fall on my head while riding? You bet. My "hundred-acre woods" are FULL of pine trees!
