Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

He's got a pretty square jaw. He could also be breathing out at the moment the picture was taken.

I'll love seeing Jan win next year. Basso has the next 6 or so years after that... Unless Boonen loses a little weight that is.

No. I'm wondering if the original post understands that photographs like these are no substitute for actual news about Jan's fitness levels posted all over the web. Ullie is clearly in the best shape of his life.

My vote is still for Basso to win. Ullrich has Basso in the TT's, but Basso has Ullrich in the Mountains.

They say this years course favors Ullrich, less finishes on the tops of climbs and so forth, harder TTs.

+1

I think he looks good/healthy for coming into the season not as out of shape as past years. As he starts to race longer tours the weight will drop off quickly.

Jan's perenial problem - he has a fat face, even when he's at 0.0001% bodyfat.
