Smile Hase Kettwiesel electrify

I am having an Bafang electric motor fitted to my recumbent trike (Hase Kettwiesel). Just wondering if anyone has done this and how successful it was. Also wanting advice on which battery to get (17.5ahr? or 24,5ahr?).

This particular web site doesn't attract many recumbent or ebike friendly people. Bent riders on line has a "Power Assist" forum, have to wonder if you will get a better response there.

As for your battery question both of those units are pretty good sized. But in the end the answer comes down to cost, weight and the space you have to mount the unit. To me bigger batteries means you won't need to charge it as often, and since batteries are rated in charge cycles my simple mind thinks this will increase the time between battery replacements.

Not sure how an electric motor would mount onto a Kettwiesel, since the motor would require different cranks, bottom bracket, etc..

Might be easier with a hub-motor conversion for the front wheel.

Well, recumbents are increadibly efficient due to their aerodynamics. Battery size is all up to you - based on speed and distance mostly. 17.5 is going to give you huge range (in e-bike terms) on a recumbent.

If you really want to know the answer, go to ebikes.ca and use their simulator to figure it out precisely.
