A few parts laying around assembled together and voila, a 35.7 pound, 36V, 350w city bike. Rode it around and, unfortunately, realized that street riding is not for me. Probably end up dissembling it, but was fun to put together.

Sir in all due respect, you and your child have no helmets on. You are wearing flip flops and your daughter is barefoot. This is the pure definition of stupidity and a desire to live a short life. Please get smart.

DIY Rear Hub / Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc
Loving my 2018 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc with a Dillenger Bikes 750w rear hub motor and 14 amp hour 48v battery. I built it in January this year (2021) and have put 550 miles on it so far (April 2021).
It was an easy bike to modify and mostly works great out of the box. The new rear wheel required a change to a Freewheel and that change required a change from 9-speeds to 8 speed. Which required a change to an 8-speed quick thumb shifter. I chose a rear hub drive because that's what I was used to, but knowing what I know now I should have opted for a mid-drive BaFang BBS02 kit instead. Had I done that I could have used the stock rear wheel with a cassette and 9-speed drive train.
I've removed the front shifter but left the small ring attached for now because I wanted to keep the plastic chain guard and the smaller ring holds it in place. I could fix that with a smaller screw set but haven't bothered yet.

Leeds conversion kit
I did a Leeds conversion kit on my commuter bike. I have a Diamondback Insight Two that is 25lbs
the front wheel motor and 30k battery is great .... install was 30 minutes.... cost was $519.00 shipped and no tax. Bag was an Amazon purchase for under $20.00
this totally flattens out the hills but is 11 lbs added to my 25lb bike with good drivetrain Acera with 3 x 8 so I can still ride the bike with motor assist easily.

they claim the 250 motor should be no problem.....
I inspect the bike daily after ridding But I may install one of those brackets on the fork to supplement them
Leeds charges $25 for it..... Amazon has them for about $10
