Whoohoo! First "real" snow. Well, since I've started commuting this new year. And it's only 1/2". But in Oklahoma, It might as well be 3 feet with as much news coverage we are getting. Any ways, beautiful morning with temps at 16 deg f and an non plowed mup. I'll take this over rain any day.

-22 ° celcius this morning, I've ride on colder days in the past but since I froze one of my legs on a -30° ride in last december I decided against riding below -20° so this morning I took the van. I should be okay tomorrow

Eerie. I wrote a haiku about it. I think it needs some work...

Looks like my bike commuting is gonna get skunked for the whole week due to weather and other factors, first time that's happened in a very long while. I've needed to drive first 3 days and now the third winter storm in past 3 weeks is bearing down on us. What a winter!

Negative 2 on the bike this morning. The roads were clear and dry so I rode. I take the opportunities when I can. Colder tomorrow morning. More snow coming after that. I already drove more this year than all of last year and I'll ( probably) be driving the rest of the week.

18F/-8 C but odd;ly enouugh did not feel as cold as the last few days which were actually a bit warmer. that windchill makes a difference.

We have a threat of snow and ice here in the DC area so I predict a government shutdown tomorrow...all the schools will likely be closed for sure and it all goes downhill from there.

A cold commute this morning at -25° celcius (-12°f) I left earlier so I could walk if my legs froze. I made it in 1h30 with all my toes!!!
It should get warmer today and hit -10° celcius by the end of the day.

I feel sorry for all of you americans that have a harder winter then we do here up north, it's colder then the last few years for us too but we're used to it. One thing for sure is that you got more snow, Lucky you

Meh, overcast this morning on the way in, overcast this afternoon on the way home.. heavy traffic for 1pm in this area though on the way back and one very fail construction zone. I'll spare you guys the temp and lack of stuff falling from the sky since I know most of you have it wayyyy worse

Telecommuted today - the offices are officially closed. It's been raining ice all day and still is. I took the bike out for about a mile just to get out, then the wife's mountain bike for variety. Yech.

Riding on the fire road, I was paced for a bit by a young lady on a MTB on the parallel horse trail. Lake Natoma was glassy, would have been even smoother if not for the rowers and their chase boats. Saw a prairie falcon.

Office closed today. 6-8 inches on the ground already, with snow expected to keep falling until tonight. If anyone is out commuting in this, be safe!

I'd like to be, but here I am sitting home again

If I rode up to the apartment leasing office and used their guest office room would that be a "commute"? 0.4 miles ...

19°, slight headwind. For some reason it seemed really warm this morning even though the thermometer was still below 20°. Looking forward to the ride home when it is supposed to be above freezing!

9F when I left home and the temp was just inching towards 10F, so I'm calling it a double digit morning. It's actually supposed to get above freezing this afternoon - first time in weeks, maybe months

Primo conditions for commuting (cloudy 46degF) but I'm driving again for the 2nd day in a row. Reason: just got back from mexico and dealing with some serious Montezuma's Revenge!!

My commute takes me around the back of the zoo. Today I was followed to work by the haunting sound a wolf howling. I don't think I could have heard it in a car, certainly not if the heat had been blowing or the radio playing.

First commute this week. It was almost 40F which felt incredible. More snow predicted tomorrow, so back to the car. My goal is to ride at least once a week outside this winter. So far I've only missed one week.

I did that thing I suggested earlier: I "commuted" the half mile to the apartment leasing office where they have a residents' "business office" with a computer. The weather was pleasant but the surface treacherous, while the "computer" was an Apple so locked down with access rights and parental controls that it was impossible to establish a secure VPN connection. So I had to undertake the brutal ride back, and at a walking pace. Literally, since my son was walking beside me, laughing about the school closing on such a nice day.

But, at least I can say I commuted during the historic Atlanta ice storm of 2014. FWIW.

To be filed under: Bad Idea

One long sheet of ice from Capitol Hill to my office here in DC. Stupid of me to do it but I did eventually make it in.
