Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does this exist? Threaded frame, wide tires, rim brakes, external cables

I have a threaded 2013 Cervelo S2 that fits very well but won't accept tires bigger than 25mm and has internal cable routing. The internal cable routing is no big deal but the narrow tires kind of suck.

Is there a frame out there that meets all of these criteria?

Looking for carbon, but aluminum or titanium could work.

Wow, never thought I'd see the day when 25s were considered "narrow" tires on a road bike.

They're 23mm GP 4000s but stretch to 25 on HED Belgiums.

My BMCc SLR01 will fit no more than 25s...which works for me. I'm actually running 23s right now and they feel surprisingly nice, even though I run 25s and a 32 on the other bikes. My older (2o12) Roubaix is threaded and can handle 28s but has internal routing. I am not sure an off-the-shelf frame exists that has all your boxes checked. If I were to do this, I'd look into getting a Ti frame or steel frame, and would likely go custom.

Titanium: Kinesis Racelight Grandfondo Ti V3 - Kinesis Bikes (nearly all but has internal cables)

Aluminum: Kinesis Racelight T3 Training Bike - Kinesis Bikes fits all criteria.

If you're interested in steel, the All City Mr Pink fits the criteria.

When They felt the Race was going to be Wet & Muddy , the Pros can choose to run the Paris-Roubaix on cyclocross race bikes .. 32mm tires ..

How much wider than 25? My Bianchi Infinito carbon bike fits 28mm. I think the clearance on dual pivot caliper brakes will be the limiting factor for tires much larger than 28. I'm guessing that most new bikes that take 28c also have disk brakes.

The Infinito has a press fit bottom bracket, with a threaded adapter for the Ultegra cranks. I don't really like the adapter, it's nylon with very fine threads, and it's tricky to thread on the aluminum bottom bracket cups without cross threading them.

I have mini-V brakes on my gravel bike, to fit 40c tires and have the correct cable pull for road bike brake-shifters. They weren't very easy to set up, though, and the rim clearance is pretty tight. They do work better with Koolstop pads.

Still on the Titanium side, I ride a Lynskey R240 and they have threaded BB, are designed for 28mm tires, rim brakes and external cable routing...

Thanks.

I think I'm over the weight limit for the aluminum kinesis.

And the rear dropout on the Mr pink is 130mm, 5mm too small for standard road wheels, correct?

130mm is standard for rim brakes wheels/frames. 135mm for disc brakes.

Kinesis post a weight limit for the T3? Where? I've never seen such a thing; I ride a Racelight 4S, which I think has been rebranded as the T3, leaving the 4S designation for the internally cabled, disc ready Racelight.

Yes. My Lynskey will take 28s on older narrow rims. Will not work on wider rims where the tires measure greater than 28. Some of the Lynskeys have gone to press fit so you have to careful which you choose. If you are willing to go to long reach calipers there may be more options.

And if you are willing to try steel, huge choice. My Gunnar Sport will take a 32 knobby with room to spare. Long reach calipers but they work just fine.

I found a frameset on local Craigslist and built up one of these. It uses long reach brakes and can fit up to 40 mm tires. I like it so much that I sold my Seven after getting this. The ride quality is very good, and the versatility is hard to beat.

I was going to say that usually one reason rim brakes and wide tires don't go together is you can't get a wheel/tire on and off the bike at all easily.

TRP R559 long reach brakes have a mechanism that allow them to open up very wide; I can get 35 mm tires in and out with ease.

That's great clearance for a caliper brake bike. Good find fa63.

if you don't mind cantilever or v-brakes and more relaxed angles get a Tricross. geometry is more road endurance than cx. will fit 45mm tires

Interesting.. how much reach is there..? I have ~33mm tires on my CX bike but also with Fenders mounted. Currently using Cantilever brakes, but not happy with their stopping power.
