clamping carradice SQR onto D shaped carbon seat post?

I ordered a SQR system for my carradice camper because it seemed like less of a rip off compared to the bagman, seemed like a more secure system, and I didn't want to mess with the straps anymore. My real touring bike has a aluminum seat post. no problem there. But on shorter weekend trips, I'd like to take my giant TCX out for a spin. That bike has a D shaped carbon seat post with a max diameter of ~30 mm from side to side. I'm thinking of making a wedge for the back of the seat post to turn the "D" into an "O" and use some of kind of protective plastic sheet wrapped around the front of the seat post to prevent the metal bands on the SQR system to dig into the carbon. Anyone have experience with the SQR system or can comment/suggest ways to implement, or suggest whether or not this is even a good idea?
