F/S Really nice 1985 Specialized Sequoia

I have a really nice 1985 Specialized Sequoia for sale. Everything is original except brake hoods and bar tape. Bottom bracket, wheel hubs and
headset has been cleaned ,relubed with new bearings. All new shift and brake cables.

It is probably my best riding bike and the only reason I'm selling is that 62cm it is just a tad
big for me. $550 Oh the bell is not included lol

This fits one of my riding buddies. I'll send it to him, but first: How deep is that dent in the seat tube near the top water bottle mount? It looks pretty serious, and the seat tube looks almost like it's flexed towards the rear. Just want to make sure he has full info.

The debt doesn't look that bad to me. It's not through the metal. I put a straight edge up to the seat tube and it's straight. Here is a close-up of the debt

Ok its has come to my attention that the someone messaged me that the dent in the seatpost as pictured makes the frame worthless and I should part it out. I didn't think it was that bad
and didn't mean to deceive anyone so I will just keep this bike and ride it. I'm not going to part it out.

I'm still passing it along, he's not on BF so I'll PM if he's interested. Don't consider this a "dibs!", if someone else comes along before me I can't commit yet, let them have it.

One of my favorite Motobecanes has some seat tube crush damage from an overzealous clamper. If this were an aluminum frame, I'd agree - garbage, time to toss it. It's steel. If the tube is straight, and the dent isn't more than 2-3mm deep, I'd personally ride it.

But it just goes to show you: Everyone has an opinion. You choose what you think is right. As long as you're disclosing the damage in your ad, let the buyer choose.

If it would have been a 58 or even 60cm I wouldn't sell it.

If you want to sell it, I don't see any reason why the buyer shouldn't decide for themselves. I would almost definitely ride that. First I would take it to a builder and have the alignment checked. Then it's just a matter of keeping an eye on that dent to make sure nothing happens. That's all easy for me to say as an amateur sitting in my living room, but if that fit me i would want a chance to own it at a mutually beneficial price.

Since it has been brought to my attention that the small dent in the seat tube devalues the bike I will
knock $100 off it and let it go for $450. The dent is I would say is less than 2mm deep.

robertj298 I would not be concerned about the dent. Less desirable but it does NOT put the frame in potential failure mode.
Some enterprising person could find a mandrel that is long enough the push it out from the inside. It would be less noticeable.
Lovely bike BTW>

The frame is slightly large for me, but I could deal with it by lowering the seatpost and using a shorter-reach stem, so that's not a deal breaker either. (Besides, the vast majority of people on the C&V subforum ride around on bikes that don't fit them, anyway.)

What's really making me hesitate is the fact that I still don't know how much it's going to cost to fix my lawnmower. I brought it into the repair shop and they said they would get back to me with an estimate. And then the virus lockdown happened, and the shop closed without getting back to me. I've called numerous times but they won't return my call. To add insult to injury, I can see my lawnmower sitting inside the shop by peering into the window. Most businesses have opened by now, so what's the deal? It's not like the repair shop is some bar or gym.

Meanwhile, I've got to pay a crew to cut my lawn, so all the savings that I hoped I would realize by mowing the lawn myself have evaporated like a puff of smoke.

Long story short: I haven't decided against buying the bike, but I haven't decide to buy it, either. I'm still deciding. My unknown lawnmower repair costs are a factor, but not the only factor. If push came to shove, I could probably borrow money from my sister. She said that if I ever needed help that I shouldn't be too shy to ask. But I'm not sure I want to ask for something that isn't essential, like buying another bike when I already have a house full of them. The problem with that is if I am ever in dire straits and need to borrow money for her when I'm desperate, she might hesitate.
Bro. You don't need this bike.
