Further down the road

I did 300 miles on my ebike last year. I'm up to 700 this year, and I hope to get a couple hundred more in before it gets seriously cold.

Got my wife an ebike, a Trek Verve 2.2

Not really a fan of those, but it's worked out better than I thought, she likes it.

We like doing long rides, and that may mean getting a couple extra batteries. Which is an ouch.

I'm a tire fanatic, but flats on the rear of an ebike sound like a massive pain. I'm not sure I could do it. In any case, I am going to get the Schwalbe touring tire next year. It's heavy, but what can you do. I got a flat on my Schwalbe rear tire this year, destroyed the tire. It's a good tire, just not good enough.

I'm old and grouchy, I have the ebike speedo set up to show the speed and odomters, I don't like messing with it. So I plan on getting a regular speedo to use as a trip meter, again, for next year.

So get a mid-motor version. Rear wheel remains as it’s ever been.
Although hub motor bikes get longer drivetrain life.

I think that is a mid drive ebike. Setup tires tubeless. You probably destroyed your tire because you kept riding it when it was flat. Get an AAA card and when you breakdown call AAA tow and they will pick up your bike and give you a ride.

.
It is.

We have AAA. I prefer Better World, and they are better, but more expensive, so now that we are retired, we're back with AAA.

My bike is a 2017, I don't know that it would take tubeless. The Schwalbe Marathon HS 440 has serious protection, I've heard of people going a few thousand miles without a flat.
