Somehow missed this thread!
Soon will be almost a year with my 2017 Roam 1.
Looking to grab some new platform pedals (Shimano Saints perhaps ) and a new saddle for 2018. The road bikes are staying off the salty roads for a while and its perfect to hit the canal paths and do some outdoor winter training.

I'm very seriously considering this (the '18 Roam 0 available up here) as a second bike for bashing around/a little non-technical off-road; be interested in your thoughts!

Oh, its a very comfortable ride and for a hybrid it gives you some confidence on the trails. The Deore drivetrain shifts soooo nice.
Its equipped well for the playful terrain on the oem rubber, whereas i felt the Crosstrail and Quick CX4 i rode were trimmed with smoother rubber better for mostly road use. I put these crosscuts through plenty of river rock trails.
I test rode the Specialized Crosstrail Disc, Cannondale CX4 and Trek DS models- all lovely bikes, but when it came to Giant the Roam 2 had that 'more bike for less' appeal after my demo of it. Ultimately i was so secure in going that direction that i upsold myself to the Deore equipped model and special ordered it.
For your intended use it sounds like more than nice enough. The 2018 Roam 0 now has tubeless tires and wheels, i didn't have that option! Don't believe you would be disappointed. GL

Yes, we are lucky here (Canada): the 0 has, as well as tubeless, an almost full, current SLX drivetrain and, even better, an NCX E fork: air, aluminum steerer and stanchions = a lot of weight lost. Assuming it all works out, the bike will be a keeper.
Thanks again; really helpful.

And @badger1's correct. Picture is in the Peak District in the UK. There are some old railway lines which have been converted - meaning the gradients don't ever get too steep but there's enough elevation change to make it pretty spectacular.
I'm just planning out my next trip and look at this lol

The Monsal Trail is a traffic free route for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users through some of the Peak District's most spectacular limestone dales.

By the way, I'd forgotten that you'd mentioned you were in U.K. in another thread, so I claim not to have cheated when guessing U.K. for the pic! Still, would love to hear a more extended account of your experience of the bike (Roam 0) so far, if you want to take the trouble.
Cheers!

Hello everybody! Great group here! Lots of information! I am set on buying Roam 2 Disk. Have one question - is there any difference between 2017 and 2018 models?

Colors would be my guess. That and a possible discount IF you could find a 2017 model. I glanced over the specs and nothing stood out as different between them on the US site.

Can anyone confirm if the Roam 1 already comes setup with tubeless tires from the factory? If so, is that a big enough deal to get it over a Roam 2?

Where are all the Giant Roam owners at? Probably out "roaming" LOL...
Anyways, I've been eyeing the Giant Roam for quite awhile now. Last Saturday I finally pulled the trigger and got myself a 2018 Giant Roam 2. The test ride made my decision pretty easy. This bike is pretty comfy, but not slow. In fact it is pretty heavy if you try to lift it up, but once you are riding it, it feels light and maneuverable and comfy. I really like it. I would have liked to get the Roam 1, but it was outside of my budget and I didn't want to trade in my flatbar Madone just to be able to afford it. I foresee this bike being my everyday bike. It is just fun and comfy to ride around everywhere.

Pics please.
The current range of Roam's by Giant are pretty impressive for what they are.

The Giant Roam lineup is pretty good. I think the Roam 2 is the "bang for the buck" option. I was supposed to test ride a Trek DS 2 before deciding which one to buy. But after test riding the Roam 2, I felt like this was a good enough bike that I didn't have to test ride the DS 2. It also helped that this new bike store I went to, was nice and very welcoming.
