Saddle Sag

Most every saddle I've had before, over time, loses it's shape and starts to sag in the middle. My old Fizik Arione, for example, started out perfecty flat. Gradually over time it took up a dip in the middle where, if I took a level and rested it on the nose and rear of the saddle, there would be almost a half inch sag in the middle. This, naturally, affects bike fit to some degree, as you can't easily slide back and forth without discomfort.

Does anyone have any tips to prevent the sagging, short of buying a new saddle every couple months?

Welcome to BF and kudos for bringing a unique complaint! Never heard this one before, should be interesting I'm lucky I guess, my saddles are comfortable for years.

My wife and I are light-weights, never had a saddle sagging problem. But those we ride with are all sizes, with all types of saddles, never heard of nor noticed any problem with saddles developing a sag on theirs either. If your saddle is sagging, are the rails bending also, or is the base cracking?

The OP Is talking about saddle *sag*, not saddle *bag*.

Funny, mentally I saw saddle bag too and was wondering about the weird replies.

I've always associated saddle sag with leather sling-type saddles and over-zealous treatment with leather conditioning products, not plastic-based saddles. Are you perhaps heavier than what the saddle is designed to carry?

I've been on this for 6 years. It has not changed shape.

My Brooks B-17's developed a slight sag after about 15 years. A little tightening on the tension adjustment and they were good as new. They will outlive me .
