Press bonded carbon/alloy seatpost failure?

I'm relatively new to biking.

I picked up a Ritchey carbon seatpost last month at a swap meet. I successfully installed said seatpost and have taken my bike out for a few rides. Last night I noticed that the saddle could rotate left or right, about 20 or 30 degrees. I check, its not the seatpost that is rotating but the alloy cap on that connects the saddle to the carbon shaft.

Is this fixable?

Thanks!
mike

I suspect that is why it was being sold at a swap meet and no it is not really cheaply fixed. Roger

A while back, Ritchey had a recall/replacment of one-bolt seatposts. But that was in 2010 and that program is no more. I suspect that your bargain is no bargain - it's toast. You could try to epoxy the thing, but in the immortal words of Dr. McCoy: "It's dead, Jim".

The pic of the bad recalled post is below (the one with "check", not the "ok"). Look like yours?

No, mine is a two bolt version. I'm pretty sure it's toast but I wanted to check with some experts.

Thanks!

It may be fixable, but if you were someone that can do that , you may have just done it.

Show it to a pro shop for suggestions..
