Like seypat, my wife and I ran in a 5k this morning and it was low key to boot. There weren't many participants allowing me to snag a 1st place medal in my age group (don't ask my time and I'll tell you no lies). Most area runners were waiting to run the "Fixer Upper" Silo marathon tomorrow. Afterwards me and my wife went on a bike ride, staying on the river walk (MUP). It was more like a CX ride as two small sections were over run with river water. We walked and rode through it, it was an adventure! We rode the entire river walk, basically a 12 - 14 mile loop? We rode more and ended up at a restaurant near the river and had lunch before we rode home. My wife is pretty fit and has no trouble keeping up on the MUP as its my fun time Not training time, however she likes going faster when there's no pedestrians.
The funny part is, it's our first real weekend alone, as my 4 year old daughter is spending the weekend with my oldest daughter. And we're spending it working out.
Also like seypat they only had 2 Porta potty at the 5k race and since we're used to baby talk my wife said " I gotta go to the potty" I said you mean restroom? That was funny.

56.5cm (565mm) center to center.
I have a couple questions:
I originally posted this as being an '86, based on the "6" in the serial number. However, I do not see this paint scheme and components in the '86 catalog, but they are in the '87 catalog.
So what "year" is it?
Secondly: is using a Campagnolo seatpost bolt acceptable? I think it's better than the nasty hardware store carriage bolt that was in there, but I don't know if it needs to be a Sugino bolt to be able to remain in the cult.

Thanks for the nod Tony , I wouldn't really call myself a purist . A Bike Forum member once said "I follow the vibe of the bike" . I subscribe to that ! And we all know I can hack and braze a Centurion into something that it has never been (or is that never should have been) . Hehe .

Hey tex , the 86' Classic has the original SIS 6spd. derailleurs and shift levers . So far they have worked perfect , I'm kind of holding my breath on the life of the shifters as I know they are prone to break off little bits that I'm sure are on there for a reason . When that happens possibly I can just do the tighten up to the friction mode .?

Take care of that 6 speed that came on the Classic. My shifters wouldn’t work in friction mode after my tabs broke off.

Replaced it with 7 Speed 600 Shifters and I happened to have a 7 speed FW so it was all good. I think my 6 speed shifters would have lasted longer but I allowed the fixing bolt to come a little loose which caused the tabs to break off. Check that bolt.

Gave the IM a wipedown with a wet towel today, and even though it was not the best cleaning job, it looks considerably better. I removed the old Paramount cycling computer thing, removed the silver bike shop sticker, and began polishing compounding a little of the white paint near the Tange sticker, and it is shining up pretty nicely. The best thing though, was getting those tri-bars off, and a regular drop bar installed. Removed the Nitto stem that was there, and replaced it with a fancier Nitto stem.
I realize it needs to be taken down to a frame and thoroughly gone through, and that is the plan, but it's nice to see the potential at this stage of the game.

Mondays I ride my Classic and Wednesdays I ride my Miami Vice. However the last two or three Wednesdays it has rained or somethings come up and I haven't been able to ride the MV. So today I decided to ride it. I had already planned to ride my so called hilly route and the MV expert is the heaviest of all my bikes but it has the smallest (easiest) gears. It's 13 or 14 -26 freewheel and stock 52/42 chainrings. Anyways, I take off and it's just normal feeling training pace and speed. There was a couple of wind gust but normal/regular ride. Then I hit the turn around, and holy moly I had No idea I had been going against the wind. Because I the way back I was flying! Just moving in and out of the biggest gears even on the straight aways. I must've been hitting the 30s judging by the gears and rpms. Man that was fun and I think I'm finally improving. But you know the bike Gods giveth and taketh so we'll see. Maybe the Expert Ironman aren't too heavy after all...or maybe I'm finding the umm... older gent gearing is more to my liking. Either way I felt good and strong and FREE!
Lastly, I've been enjoying watching a tv series called "Spirit" with my 4 year old daughter. This is the opening segment. That's how I felt.

Then I rode west of town where there's more open prairie. More wind, slowed down a bit. Good opportunity to see if my recent physical therapy has helped my neck, back and shoulder enough to stay areo and use the drops longer. Seems to be improving a bit.
But it was a beautiful day and great ride.

I got some Texas riding in too. Saturday I rode 45 miles with my Daughter & Granddaughter then went home and ate lunch and took a nap. When I got up I went out and rode 30 more. Sunday I rode a faster paced 30 then went to work. I was a little wiped out but who cares when you got to ride a Ironman while your wife mows the lawn. Granddaughter is riding her Ironman some and says it climbs better than her Fuji and is smoother. She still hasn't put the bar tape on because she thinks she wants to move the levers a little. She is thinking she may take it to Ragbrai.

That's awesome! Truly, Texans have been blessed with some nice riding weather lately....when it ain't raining. We need to get a Texas Ironman group ride going.
A while back @RobbieTunes had talked about a cross country tour. Maybe we could escort him through Texas. The panhandle would be a piece of cake. However Longview to El Paso you might have to bring your lunch.

Back to RAGBRAI. If there are going to be multiple Ironman riders, I'd love to ride the last day, along the river, on another. Just let me know. @76SLT has a beauty, and he's in middle Illinois. I see a nice short road trip.

We got the email today that we are in. As far as I know right now I will be on my purple bike. I am still trying to get the fit right for that kind of miles. The 75 mile day last weekend left me a little tender in a spot or two.

I had not heard about RAGBRAI till now. I looked it up and it looks like fun. That last day is the closest route, and is just a couple hours, if that, from me.

I'm excited to see what you come up with. I like the cinelli logo too. Keep it going.
