I had originally planned on doing Purgatory, but the way this season is going I think I'll be doing some endurance riding and saving my bullets (and cash) for Longsjo. Good luck!

thanks! i'll be at the sunday fitchburg round. friday is out due to work, and I think I'm going to do hunter mountain on saturday. never done one of those and it's way more appealing to me than sitting around all day to do a 45 minute evening crit.

I'm really on the fence about Worcester. Doing it will hurt my chances for Fitchburg, which I have a shot at winning, but I have roots in the area and always wanted to race there. Decisions.

The Rockleigh A race last week was a sight to behold. 4 guys from the Venezuela national team were there, and they lined out the field from start to finish. The field averaged over 27 mph for the race. One of the Venezuelans went with 3 to go and got about 10 seconds almost immediately, which he held to the finish. The four of them took the top four spots.

We averaged over 25mph for our 4/5 race, so is 27mph for a p/1/2/3 that much more impressive, especially in a pack of 50 riders? The faster laps we did were done in 2:12, or 26mph. I'm not saying I could have hung on at the faster pace, but I don't think their race was that much faster considering the race was only 45 minutes. Now if it was a 4 hour race then the difference in speed would seem more impressive to me.
e.g. Berkeley hills, e3s did the entire lap in 57min. fastest p12 lap was 61min. Fastest p12 times over the 3 bumps? 17min. Fastest e3 times over the 3 bumps, 18:30.
which race was "faster?"

Well, this was a 1-mile 6-corner crit, and they did literally every lap between 26 and 30 mph. They were single file from start to finish. Choose whatever metric you want, it was a fast race.

I'm sure it was. I'm just saying that it's not the averages that make a race, it's the amplitude of the selective bits. And as always, generalizing.

Hey, they are the ones who call it 6 turns, here: https://www.bikereg.com/inc/content/...Series2014.pdf
To me it's 4 corners and a squiggle.
But whatever, there's nothing to argue about here. I watched some fast guys put the hurt on some other fast guys and it was fun.

that's funny.
yeah…it's a four turn crit with a less than straight back side.
even funnier is the idea that the 4/5 race was (as almost as hard) (despite being shorter and 2 mphs slower) than the 1,2,3 (which may have had a pro in it) with a bunch of venezuelan hot shots who were committed to getting one of their riders a solo win and then mopping up the field sprint.
