Specialized road stem styles
I have this Specialized stem (shown attached to an ITM bar):
I don't like that style of bar clamp, so looked around for other options. I found something similar on Velobase:
Note that my stem has the Italianate cone nut, not the Nitto style wedge nut. That makes me wonder if there was a version of the stem produced with a Cinelli 1A-style bar clamp (wedge or cone nut is less important).

Answering my own question, yes, there was a stem with a Cinelli 1A-style bar clamp, the S-1. I downloaded the 1984 Specialized catalog from Velobase (zip file full of individual JPG pages) and converted them to a multi-page PDF for easier perusal. The various stems available that year are shown on page 23.

Great stems - currently on "old trusty". 130mm
Originally came to me on $5 police auction bike purchased in 1995. It has seen duty on almost every bike I've owned.

No doubt. I imagine Nitto made them, so they would be pretty bulletproof. I am just not fond of the "hidden" clamp bolt. I just prefer the Cinelli 1A-style clamp.
