Looking for a Crateworks tandem box

As far as I can tell, Crateworks isn't selling these anymore. Does someone have one they'd like to sell? Are there any other good alternatives? I have a cardboard box from Santana, but it got pretty badly torn up after one round trip.

Thanks,
Daniel

I am also looking for a safe box to ship my non-coupled Calfee Tandem. Not having much luck finding anything online. Considering building my own case.

(UPDATE 11/17/2018: this travel case is sold)

I don't know how this compares to Crateworks. I have this full hard-shell travel case which I used for protected transport of my Burley Paso Doble tandem bicycle (non-coupled). I would be willing to part with it, as space in my garage is becoming a premium.

The case is used, but still quite functional. It has 4 casters that can be slid onto retaining brackets on the bottom side for easier rolling around. It has 4 handles: two on the top and spring-loaded on each side. There are 5 closure points in total which keep it shut (2 are briefcase-style, 3 are twist-to-lock).

I don't have pictures of the bike in the case, but my recollection of its use / fitment was along these lines:
  1. remove pedals from the cranks
  2. remove wheels
  3. loosen stems from headsets and suspend them sideways
  4. rotate front fork 180 degrees
There doesn't appear to be any branding on the case, but my notes indicate it was called a "Pedal Pack" by Bike Pro USA (Spectrum Products). I purchased it new in the early 2000's for around $550.

Exterior dimensions are 69" x 29" x 11.5" (+ a 2" "bump out" on one side down its spine for wheel hubs).

Interior dimensions are 67.5" x 27.5" x 10" (again plus the "bump out").

On a home scale it appears that the case weighs about 45 lbs.

Some pictures:

I’m interested in your tandem shipping case. How much are you asking for it? And what is your location?

Here is a Crate Works Tandem case which just popped up on Craigslist. Looks like he is eager to get it out of his location.

I now have a Crateworks tandem box that I can sell now as we bought a new tandem that is coupled. If you are still interested, please let me know. The box is used but still in great shape and has a two wheel dolly that you can strap on.

I have a BikePro tandem case that I'd be happy to sell. We are in Penticton BC.

I sold a Crateworkstandem case for $150 last year on ebay. It had made several trips to and back from Europe and maybe 8 US air trips. It was pretty banged up and the metal edges did not align well any more when we sold it due to so many dents. We also replaced som of the latches, but it did in fact protect our bike pretty well for a lot of miles.
