Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Colnago lovers, be shocked

It's a flatbar colnago with a triple, and a mountain bike rear derailleur...

Is Colnago trying to imitate Trek? Maybe next they can start to put out a line of kid's bikes and cruisers.

It looks like a japan-only model of bike, intended for city commuters. Probably perfect for some peoples' purposes.

Why should "Colnago lovers" be shocked? Remember there are older people that use flat bars on racing bicycles because is more simple and comfortable. There are even people competing with them. If Felt have them and Trek have them, why shoudn't Colnago have them? After all these sort of bicycles may have a new shelf in market.

What commuter needs a colnago hybrid? It reminds me of my brother ordering lasagna in a tiny spanish resturant in spain. BTW, it was the worst lasagna ever made. If you want a hybrid, get a company that specializes in hybris or somethin.

Why would colnago need a new shelf in market? It is human nature, greed, but when youve established your name as one of the finest road bicycle company why the need for expansion, i dont get this.

I think because we are accustomed to seeing Colnagos that look like this...

google image search for Colnago turns up 98% drop bar bikes. Entering the flatbar world is sort of like Ferrari making a pickup truck

looks like economics to me: the same reason porsche came out with the cayenne (to help build more $$$ for the overall bottom line where SUVs are now popular, and where there is more $ to be made on it than the 911 per unit...). a city bike is more "accessable" to the general public, and if that brings in one more rider into the fold, so that one day they step up to our road rides, so be it!

Nothing new about those bikes. They've been around for a while.
For those who have their heads stuck up their backside, Colnago make mountain bikes too you know. Why on earth would anyone think Colnago sticks to Road bikes?
They are like any other company who is out to make money. The bikes are made in Tiawan and look fantastic. I'd have one for commuting, why not?
Steve

By the way, Bianchi make other bikes too:

I don't see the problem. Some people seem to be stuck up. I have an Airborne Ti thats similar to this. Not everyone wants a low end hybrid, and not everyone thinks the Trek 7.7fx is all that, not to mention its not in stock around town yet. They see a market for a high end item in this category and they are hitting it. For those that only want a road bike, then fine, but some of us want a hybrid and a mountain bike also. Other people realize that full suspension for the city isn't the best, but don't want a road bike. After they ride something like this, they might want to move up to a road bike. They had a Colnago hybrid, so they decide to move up to a Colnago road bike. Sounds like a smart plan to me.

Because there is a market out there for fitness bikes?

Because that business is going elsewhere?

Does that help?

shhhh...don't tell anybody this, but they actually go out and do market research to find out if there are customers for a bike like this. And guess what? There is...shhhh.....
