Lots of you fellow roadies have probably ridden your age on your Birthday. I have been road biking for about two years and have the fortune of having my best friend, biking partner, and husband all rolled into one wonderful person (A.K.A. Cheeseflavor). I would say we are average "road bike addicted" riders.
Tomorrow I hit the wonderful age of 42. Usually 42 miles is no big deal to ride on a nice summer day. In fact, it is a typical ride for my husband and I. However, when you live in Minnesota and it is January a 42-mile ride is an adventure! Tomorrow I am going to do it!!! I think I will actually have the chance to ride my age on my birthday As you can guess, living in Minnesota and having a birthday in January does not always lend itself to riding *on* your birthday. This year the weatherman is promising temperatures in the mid 30's. The roads are dry. More important the roads are ice-free! So tomorrow, as long as the weather holds, I am off with my husband, riding partner and best friend for a 42-mile ride!
I invite all of you, weather permitting, to get out there tomorrow and ride those bikes! Help me celebrate my birthday by riding tomorrow!
We'll report back with an update on how the ride went. Maybe even have some pics
Take care,
Linda

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! 42.2 miles. Cold as HE**, but we did it!!! Temp was only 33F with winds out of the SSE at 11mph. That makes it feel around 22F. But it was well worth every cold mile. We had fun
Time for a hot bath, espresso, and diner of steak, baked potato and salad, cooked by my husband Steve.
Hmmm, they say 37 degrees for tomorrow. Maybe we will have to do it again!
BTW, Steve won up the hills, but he did wait for me

Ugh! 42 miles on a trainer Well, they say, "3 hours on the trainer is worth 4 hours on the road", so maybe 32 miles

Linda,
Congrats on your ride and Happy Birthday!
Steve posts often in the Fifty+ Forum, with sage advice and great stories, as well. He always speaks so highly of you -- it was great to read a post BY you!
Now then -- where are the pics???

Thanks Gary,
It was a great ride, and a great Birthday. The ride was cold but who cares! Steve made the day special, made me dinner, ran a bath for me after the ride and made espresso. It was my day and he made sure it was special, I'm reaally lucky to have a husband like Steve.
We were glad to be out there in January in "Minnesnowta" Temps are even warmer today so you know what we are going to do...okay, time to start putting on the layers
Steve and I on a ride at the rest stop... Just kidding
