Selected photos from my ride from Bolzano, Italy to Vienna, Austria

In August, 2019, I rode from Bolzano, Italy on the western edge of the Dolomites to Cortina on the eastern edge and then north to the Drava river and over the Grossglockner Pass (the highest paved pass in Austria) on my way to Vienna.

Of the 1700 photos I took, I've selected 52 of them. You can see them here.

Nice, thanks for sharing! Grossglockner is no joke. I've driven it a few times, but haven't biked it. The surrounding Hohe Tauern National Park is beautiful. We've biked the Tauern Bike Path a few times through that valley. One of our favorite rides...

One comment: Brenner Pass goes to Austria, not Switzerland.

The Grossglockner Pass was beyond my ability. But, through determination, refusal to quit, and some walking, I made it to the top. No joke, indeed!

Thanks for the information on the Brenner Pass. I fixed it.

Lovely photos. A couple don't seem to have uploaded properly, e.g., one describing a view down to Cortina. Your photos are inspiring and I'd hate for us to miss even one specimen of your skill and enthusiasm.

Thanks for the kind words and the heads-up on the page problem. I have fixed this problem.

Might you have a route map to share?

I always create planning pages for my rides. Here is the one for this ride. It contains links to my route on strava. Note that anyone can use the planning page on my website to create a similar plan for their tours (requires free login).

I also create a track of my actual route at TrackMyTour. You can see the tracks here.
