Anybody use Endura MT500 shoe covers with road shoes?

For modestly cool/cold and/or wet conditions, I use shoe covers. When it gets really cold I switch to real winter cycling boots. But the shoe covers I've used in the past, from Louis Garneau or Pearl Izumi, are pretty flimsy and get torn to shreds in a season or sooner.

Endura MT500 shoe covers look more sturdy, but they are designed for MTB shoes. Checking them out at the LBS, it looked to me that they would also work for road shoes. I'm planning on bringing my road shoes into the store to see if they might, but I though I'd also ask here.

Also, any other comments about the Enduras or about shoe covers that don't get shredded so easily would be welcome.
