Rehashing an old photo from last year, but one of my favorites. I've "struggled" for years with the cold month blues, and finally decided to just tackle it head on with outdoor activities. It's very, reviving, to go out into that crap each day in the cold months. It makes summer oh so sweet! Ha, so many winter threads going, can't wait for mid January and a guide on what to do before March

No winter. November to February around here is what most of the rest of you call "riding season" where you are.

I grew up in Cleveland, but moved to Texas as soon as I was out of high school. There's definitely winter here (which I LOVE), but it's nothing like a Cleveland winter, so it probably doesn't count.

Different time of year, different challenges. Keeps things from getting boring.

Also, lets my coworkers ponder how much of a basket case I am for commuting in it.

Skiing is as much fun as bicycling, be it cross country or downhill, plus you can always get out for a winter ride when the cold moderates, even here in Montana. Snow is beautiful to look at and great to walk in. Staying warm when it's frigid outside is one of life's great pleasures. And winter is bracketed by two other beautiful seasons, autumn and spring. What could be better?

Cold, snowy, icy weather doesn't intimidate me, it makes me feel stronger and I love it and enjoy every minute of it. Not only do I ride my bike but I also do outdoor workouts with kettlebells, pull ups, dips and all kinds of other exercises all winter long.

Keep your feet dry & it's fine. I do get tired of all the water in my entryway from the snow melting off my bike but otherwise...

It's brutal here. Sometimes, around December, the daytime highs drop into the 60s. Last year, it got all rainy and we had something like 50 days of "rain." So only sunny like 300 days. It actually snowed here for almost 30 minutes in 2008.

I can ride to the Pacific Ocean (0ft), or to Onyx Summit (8,449ft) right from my door in about 4 hours, any time of year. The best kind of snow is the kind you can get away from. I can see right up there on the mountain in the "winter." But it doesn't come to my house and try to ruin everything.

I hate cold. There's too much winter where I live now. We had a dozen or more nights below freezing last year. Anything under 60 is too cold for me.

We've had strange winters lately. Last year was the coldest January I can remember in 20 years. February was the warmest ever. Mid 80s every day. Then it got cold again in March and real summer (90+ every day) was late in coming. It the days over 90 that I live for.

I hate to say I hate winter but I will admit my tolerance for the cold goes down more each year. Especially now that I'm cycling a lot more, the winter is a real hindrance. I'll get out with temps into the 20's - maybe teens if it's sunny without much wind - but I don't ride as far and it's more to keep a base level of fitness and because I really don't like riding indoors on a trainer. Having said that, when I was younger I skied a lot so I enjoyed the winter more - for several years my main vacation was a skiing trip. I could start skiing more but don't seem to have the same level of interest I used to have.
