Late 80's Peter Mooney, 56cm, Shimano 600, SOLD!!!
For sale is this very lovely late 80’s Peter Mooney bike. Seat tube is 56cm CTC, top tube is also 56cm CTC. Columbus SLX tubing. Stand over height is 32.5 inches. I am the second owner of the frame, bought it through the large auction site. Paint was not in good shape so had it resprayed in Holdsworth orange with cream head tube and seat tube panel by frame builder and painter Al Wanta. Mooney supplied the replacement decals.
Components are Shimano 600 (6208 series) 6 speed. Crankset has 52/42 rings. Brake levers are excellent as are the hoods. Wheels are dark anodized Wolber Alpines laced to Shimano 6207 freewheel style hubs; tires are nearly new Vittoria Rubino Pro III in size 25. Freewheel is a Shimano UG 14-28, headset is a cartridge style Shimano 6500. Saddle is a Selle Italia X3 mounted to a Nitto 83 seat post (post was changed after these pictures were taken). Bars and stem are both Cinelli.
Cable housing is from Porkchop with new Shimano stainless drawn shift and brake cables. No pedals (unless I happen to have a set of road pedals that work with your shoes).
Bike rides beautifully and presents well. As you can see from the photos, everything is in really great condition.
Honestly, at$750 SOLD!!I’m taking a terrible bath on this, but want to simplify things at home, hence the sale. Note that price does not include shipping, but I will pack and ship it myself and use Ship Bikes as they are the least expensive right now. No worries on the shipping, I’ve never had one damaged.

Oh, man, Doc, that's so beautiful and so tempting. I'm sure that Mooney would want to come back to the Boston area! A riding buddy of mine has a custom Mooney that he bought new in the 1980s. Is it generally a skinny tire ride bike? I don't see much clearance between tire and seat tube from these images.
