It's really quite simple, Matt. I do the same as when I hire people into my group - just pick great people, and it all works out.

Yeah, except that Lerner guy is terrible in a pace line.

His job isn't the pace line, his job is to bring good weather.

48th Anniversary Ride on a sunny July 17th, 2020.

Hadn't ridden this bike for a year, but it felt like yesterday.
I bought this Peugeot PX-10 new in 1972, when I was 21. Paid $286. including boxed shipping from Brooklyn, NY to York, PA. Struggled all day to assemble it, never did bike work previously.
Somehow, I managed to hold onto it all these years. And, I am so very glad for that! Rode all over Monterey County, CA for years...memories...and it is still a great bike.

Lake Williams, York County, PA

Pair of Egrets waiting for breakfast, below the dam.

This guy has his eyes peeled.

These thoroughbred horses are well cared for.

Along the lazy river.

Happy barn & corn.

Old barn & silo, typical South Eastern Pennsylvania farm site.

Hydrangeas at the horse ranch entrance.

Summer school classes if you're a goose.

Rose of Sharon bush. Almost home after 2 hours of vacation riding.

Cape Cod Canal...East end...the sandy end...on my beautiful Specialized Hard Rock with deore stuff...Pulled it out of a shower stall about ten years ago...”sure, take it”, she said...took it apart...put it back together...riding ever since...

Forgot to take the picture before putting it away...no reason for the pipe insulation to there...covering the beautiful fade brown to purple paint...

Some of the bikes living in the bike vault...Ooo new thread!

I got the new build all cabled up and roughly dialed in this afternoon. Took it out for a test spin, and rode into the night...

Managed to evade the federal agents long enough to snap yet another photo of the Raleigh with Mt Hood in the background. Beautiful day in Portland.

I went out for a ride on my 1985 Performance Superbe today, about 15 miles out the start of the Tualatin Valley Scenic Bikeway and then meadering back.

I dropped by one of my favorite stopping points at Fernhill Wetlands.

I had kit to match the bike.

I didn't have the rest stop to myself, but I was able to maintain social distance from my fellow visitor.

One of the things I like about this place is that I can refill my water bottles. Not today though.

Big heat in the Boston area all weekend, so I got out for an early relatively short ride with one really big climb. That was up to Blue Hill observatory, just south of the Boston border in Milton, MA. Here I am sweating at the top:

And the elevation map. Can you tell where the big climb was?

Nice! That's showing them the ropes the right way.

Having ridden about half of that route with @rhm and others on a couple of Tour de French Fender Days, the Long Island route up to Orient Point was very enjoyable, the route from New London to Old Saybrook, not so much. In 2017 myself, Rudi, @nlerner and his friend Bob rode from one stop sign and light to another, up and down, very little shoulder, and lots of traffic. Wondering if during The Aftertimes minimized this. In 2018 Rudi routed us further inland from New London before heading towards Old Saybrook. The rolling country roads were magnificent!

Rode a middle section of Skyline Drive today to beat the heat again. 86 degrees on my ride, 100 down in the valley! I planned to turnaround at Loft Mountain and decided to check out the campground there in case I can reserve a spot next week. Little did I know it was 1 mile, 500 foot climb! Looks like a nice spot though.

Fit dialed in on the new Ritchey! This is Ivy Creek overlook. I’ve posted pics elsewhere of Simmons Gap and Mission Home roads - all down below here.

I hope you do. AG was a favorite, as WJ was a favorite character. I remember hearing him on occasion as a kid.

Flippin' amazing you can ride a bike over to there now. I worked in that white building on the left there for a short time while I was waiting to get flown out to my ship. Looks like developers are getting hold of Yerba Buena - used to be covered in trees.

Yes, they are going through the soil that was left "Navy Clean", so there are huge piles of dirt. They removed all the cool date palms from the waterfront and I'm not sure if they will be replaced. The hill was covered with eucalyptus so they are probably bringing back the natives. You can only ride from Oakland to the island. You can ride most of the bridges now.
