1991 Bianchi Boardwalk hybrid

I want to get a hybrid bike, and I came across this bike. Is it a good starter hybrid?

Looks in really good condition for a bike of that vintage! Nice bike if the fit is right.

According to Bikepedia, 1993 was the first year this bike was produced. I own a '97 Bianchi Advantage, and Boardwalk was a level up. If it is in good shape, fits you, and is priced right, go for it.

Yes I know this mistake was made 6 years ago, but since no one has corrected it, allow me. Bikepedia is incorrect. The Bianchi Boardwalk was produced before 1993. I just dismounted from one I bought in 1991, and I have the sales receipt to prove it.

When this thread was first posted we did not have a Hybrids forum. Now that we do, and this Zombie thread has been awakened, we are moving it to the Hybrids forum.

I think BikePedia's database starts with 1993, making it look like that was the first year, even though some bike models were introduced before then.

I was hoping someone on the thread may be able to identify the year of a Bianchi Boardwalk I recently bought. The serial number is H1C53347, or point me in a better direction to find such answers since BikePedia seems to be less legitimate. I sent an email to Bianchi with this number and am awaiting a response.

The frame of your Bianchi Boardwalk was manufactured in March 1991 by Hodaka of Taiwan. Consequently, it will be a 1991 model.
